Camelback clones... the plot thickens...

Stumbled across this one quite by accident today, in one
of those wacky Aldi grocery stores. A camelback clone for
$25.00. It's a 'special' until 7th January, and as usual
with Aldi, the shop I went to (Hornsby) only had two items
left, and one was incomplete, so YMMV :) Still, worth a
look methinks. I bought one. Seems OK. I'll give it a try
tomorra whilst out on a ride.

Removeable bladder that seems to be a reasonably heavy
cinyl, holds 2 litres, a tube that can run up the inside
of the shoulder strap on either side, a push/pull tap
and a bite'n'suck (woo!) mouthpiece thingami. Room in the
backpack for a bit of other stuff too.

How many people actually use these things?? Whilst on a ride
i always thought it was a good idea to stop and take a break
every now and then to get a drink, (relax, whatever) and then
    continue on your journey??

If you have to take fluid/refreshment with you, to have on the
way rather than stopping, are you not pushing it a bit to far?

    Jason.

  3. I dunno, i tend to need to fuel up before i need to drink or wiss. So they
would be pretty useless for me. But i believe its because its better to keep
hydrated by drinking smll continuous amounts??.. (thats just a guess..haha)

most bikes do 200 kays and a lot do much more

so that can be 2-3 or more hours

if it is hot you need a lot of fluids , a lot more than
you are going to get in the short break every couple of hours

Just did a tad over 1100km over the last 3 days, only stopped for fuel every
270 to 300km. Would have been nice to be able to drink as I rode.

  6. I used to do alot of trips between tamworth and dubbo in the middle of
summer (35 to 45 degree days). Done it non stop. Granted i needed a drink
when i would arrive, but it didnt bother me. However im sure its probably
not the best thing to do, so i do see their purposes.

Can you also get a CamelCrotch to attend to matters at the other end.

That way you could ride all day (unless it;s a Honda VTR).

Need at least 2 litres capacity and an extra large diameter attachment for my fitment ;-)

ask the nurses. Not only will they provide the attachment, they'll
provide an objective rating of youre fitment.

Don't worry about the giggling, they always do that. Worry about the
    bottlebrush.

I think "stop, revive" is always a good idea. I figure it's
still handy to have a couple of litres of water there, rather
than forking out a dollar or two for 375cc of filtered tap water
every time you wanna take a break.

One of the guys in aus.aviation pointed out that when he flies
long distance, he takes a mouthfull of water every so often
over the course of the day. Reckons that if you drink a whole
bottle in one hit, you'll have to make wee stops all the time,
but if you just sip a bit now and then continuously, you sweat
it out, and don't need the wee stops.

I haven't used this thing in anger yet, but I did try it out
in the kitchen with my helmet on. It's sufficiently difficult
to use with a helmet on that I figure you're not likely to
use it a lot whilst actually riding anyway. It's more a quick
sip at the lights kinda thing...

Yes, you are. I don't consider it an alternative to stopping
    tho.

Anyhoo, it's all theory and hypothesis until it actually gets
used in anger. Ask me t'morra...

Mesuspects he was hoping for a fitting suitable for his
    OD, not ID.

Ouch... makes the eyes water just thinking about it!

Or what? Yer kidneys collapse? Your eyeballs dry up and fall out? You
shrivel into a prune? Why is it the current generation can't go anywhere
without water every five minutes. **** me, if you'd said 20 years ago
that you could fill bottles with water and sell 'em for big money you
would have been seen as a nutter.

No wonder 'men' are now buying makeup. Fuckin' pussies, the lot of 'em.

This has got to be the most gullible generation in centuries. Snake Oil
salesmen are having a field day...

what about ya balls im sure they could shrivel up as well

you pass out and ride into a tree ?

usually the camel backs are used in the bush when dirt bike riding, mountain
    biking or hiking
and you need it as by the end of the day you are knackered and fall off a
    lot more

not really needed that much on a road bike unless you are planning to ride
    long distances
    in extreme heat
    some things never change

sheesh young people today , why back in my day you were LUCKY to get water
had to go down the street and pump it from a well and cart it 5 miles home
    with
    bare feet
now go off and ride your naked bike at 200+
as always , things will never change

    sure you aren't Boris ??

    ;)
