Duh! If I thought there was any realistic possibility that I might be
charged I wouldn't have retweeted it, and I suspect the same is true
for the vast majority of the others that did the same. You're stating
    the obvious.

Not crap, but involving Spartacus is a red herring - which is why I
questioned the wisdom of doing it, rather than simply getting a mass
tweet going against Paul Chambers' conviction or the law in general,
if you're that much against either.

FWIW, I'd rather see the law played out a little before condemning it
out of hand. I don't think Paul Chambers should have been criminalised
for his actions, but I'm unhappy with the prospect of anyone being
    allowed to tweet anything.

You might get your wishes, let's see what the CPS do to that MP.

He will never compete as he doesn't believe what's being said.

Well yeah, I think having free speech kinda requires the right to offend or
    be offensive.
So I'd support the Poppy burners but I'd also support a band of EDL's on the
other side of the street wiping their arse with pages from a religious text.

Waving their banners around or waving opposing banners saying Pork Eating
Homosexuals, that would be another matter. The written and the spoken word
    being different.

Wait a sec. Is a person who tweets, a twit or a twat?
    <ponders>
hmm. Twat must be the superlative of twit.
    Carry on.

Ah. I missed that detail. In which case yes, one should be able to
    tweet what one likes.

Come to think of it, there's no-one I actually want to follow, so I
guess tweeting will remain a closed book to me anyway.

Ah. Something else I've learned. Still, if you don't go looking for
tweets you won't feel menaced by them.

    AIUI, it came up in a semi-regular round-up of the airport's media/new
media/social networking coverage. The kind of thing most businesses do.

Yes. That is correct. The comparative is "twitter" twat is the
    superlative.

    twit - twitter - twat

    e.g.
    1. He was twitter than Gordon Brown.
    2. John Major the twat ex-politician said yesterday.....

The report I read gave the impression that the 'Duty Manager' had heard
that the Airport was 'on twitter' and did a search *in his own time*.
Then felt it necessary to alert someone more senior, who alerted the
police, who eventually decided it was a joke, but reported it to the CPS
anyway (probably as a back covering exercise). The rot started with a
fuckwit jobsworth with no sense of humour and escalated out of control
to a point where it has become a cause celebre versus a CPS not wanting
to lose face. An utter shambles.

I agree with Colin though that the I am Spartacus thing is a juvenile
side show. A whip round to pay for Jack of Kent to fight an appeal to a
higher court would be more useful.
