Can someone please explain

Not for me to say on the criminality point as I have not researched the
legislation that applies. I watched a short clip of an interview with Y
A-B and interestingly she said she had not reported the matter to the
police. It was a member of the public who did so. We shall see where
this gets to in terms of a prosecution. If the councillor is prosecuted
then a message will be sent - either don't be a berk using Twitter or
one to the government who decide to overturn the legislation. It'll be
interesting to see what happens.

 

The CPS involvement ended at the original conviction. It's all about
the judges from hereon in.

One thing that puzzles me is why he didn't opt for a crown court
trial in the first place. There seems to be a lot of attention on the
judges and not enough on the frankly appalling legal advice he had at
the start, which is at least as responsible for the mess he's in as
anything that came after.

There's been a defence fund since the original arrest. The spartacus
thing is in addition to that, not instead of.

I know it's not the done thing on ukrm but a bit of background
reading pays dividends before posting.

Umm, not entirely true. But there have been many recent misuses of our
armed forces.

Besides, there was that paranoia about the Soviets coming into Europe,
so whether or not the fear was truly justified, given the mood of the
time, having military forces was justifiable.

Maybe we should scale back, maybe Europe really is sufficiently stable
and safe from external invasion threat now, but: 'The War To End All
Wars'....
