Canberra parking

Hello,

For the first time in a long time I'm riding and parking in the centre
(Civic) Canberra tomorrow.

What are the rules in regards with motorcycle parking?
Is there free parking for motorcycles?
If so, is it only in designated motorcycle parking spaces, or does it
extend to car spaces?

I'm going to be at the Rydges Lakeside, are there any close motorcycle
parking?

Free in designated motorcycle parking spots. f you use a car space in a pay
car park you're supposed to pay. The RTA mob provides these stupid plastic
ticket holder tag thingies that you can attach to your handlebar/mirror etc,
which can be easily removd from your bike by anybody.

Not sure how far it is from Rydges, but there's a motorcycle parking area
near the City cop-shop. Have you checked with Rydges to see if they have any
spots there for bikes?

Thanks Betty, Rydges were making people pay today and I don't think
they have designated bike spots.

I was thinking the copshop was the closest but wasn't sure. I guess I
will be parking there tomorrow

Do you know at what time it fills up?

Yeah park at rydges

 

See, you can make sense.

 

I grabbed the last spot one morning at around 9.30. There's more parking up
around the magistrate's court - not much further - but I suspect that fills
up more quickly. Having said that, there are lots more empty spaces now that
the weather is cooling down.

I always park in the London Circuit car park across from Tossolinis - which
may be a longer walk from Rydges than you'd intended - but you'd be
guaranteed of a spot there - there are three motorcycle parking areas in
that car-park.

I turned up at the North Sydney Hilton on the Cali II, in pouring
rain, wearing waxed cotton. The porter carried my panniers in for me
and showed me a nice secure spot to park. OK, I was booked in for
three weeks and it was a while ago. I had a suitcase delivered earlier
(the boss flew it from Perth) and when I came down to the lobby after
getting changed, the were a bit startled seeing someone coming out of
the lift they didn't recognise as a guest, so they stopped and asked
me if I was staying there. To their credit I was treated no
differently in my wets as in the three piece suit. But I suppose that
might have been the corporate account.
