Is there anyone out there with some advice as to how I can title my
    bike? It's a 93 suzuki rgv250.
I bought it from a guy that lives in Arizona. I live in CA.
It has an AZ assigned vin. It is titled as a 2003 special
construction. the dmv refered me to the CA CHP because it was missing
the federal regulation sticker. the CHP told me i'm out of luck and if
I ride it, it will be impounded. They said that they would be
contacting the dmv to make sure this bike is never titled in CA.
Is there hope? put it up for sale?

    One word: BASTARDS!
I would try to find out (without drawing more attention) if they followed
through with that threat. I have no idea how much effort the inidividual
CHP personnel would make to see that one motorcycle is permanently kept off
    the road.

Try posting the question to ba.motorcycles
There have been similar questions answered there, and someone will at least
    be sympathetic.

    Good luck,
    Richard

I was at Alice's on Skyline (CA) when a guy brought one in in the back
of a pickup. He had bought it, the bike had been brought in through
Canada, registered in a state that didn't pay much attention, and then
brought to CA and registered in a "low" population rural area of CA. A
CHP officer came up and talked to the guy, light chit chat, and then
produced a book published by the Fed's of non-conforming models, bikes
that had no approval to be imported into the US. If the bike had no
plates, the guy could have said it's a track only bike. But because it
had a plate, it was impounded. Never heard whether the guy got it back
or not but I would assume not. Federal law requires they be crushed as
are some vary expensive cars that have been impounded the same way. So
beware. The threat is real and can be inforced. You were probably saved
by the out of state plate. Myself, I'd probably move to another state
    and ride it...

Well it's not worth moving over, but my options are looking pretty
grim. The plates expire in October of this year. Whether I try to
renew the registration in AZ or not, I'm still trying to decide if it
    stays or if it goes.
    Thanks for the info.
