Or, more precisely, buried under a granite wall which fell sixty feet
    down onto it this morning.

Almost certainly a write-off. Does anyone have access to a Glass's?

    CR-V 99T 106,000 fair-good.

    Definitely a write-off.

    I think that's a fairly safe bet...
Might as well take advantage of Vauxhall's kind offer to give a trade-in

    "Almost certainly a write off"?

That's a hell of an optimistic streak you have there.

Not really. You could get an immaculate one same year same mileage for
under 1900 quid from a dealer, or under 1500 quid private. So it would
only be 'worth a lot more' to you if it had some sentimental value.

If a housebrick fell 10 feet that would be a write off....

    That's not necessarily true.

If I know my car's just had several hundred quids worth of servicing
with all known issues dealt with, can I know the same about any random
car with the same price on a dealer forecourt or in the arse end of

You can pretty much if the servicing's up to date & you check that
whoever's down as servicing it did actually do it. I agree that could
affect things with something like a TVR, but it's a Honda - they never
    go wrong.

Not surprised. It's a decade old two-shapes-ago petrol soft-roader. Not
exactly the most fashionable of vehicles. Not exactly the most practical
of vehicles for many users - and in serious oversupply.
Which, of course, insurance doesn't cover.

You think an insurance assessor will give a toss?

No, not at all. Which is rather the point when the OP was bemoaning that
the car is "worth more" to him than the market value as determined by
    the loss adjuster.

Or are you trying to agree with me in some special agent secret squirrel
    mojo stylee?

If I lived on the mainland, perhaps. Here you have a much smaller pool of
    'pre-loved' vehicles to choose from.
