Quite. Plus the 'devil you know' factor. I wonder what happened to my
Octavia that went as a PX ( with the fault declared to the dealer)
with gearbox not far off failing?

Oh, if only there was such a thing as a "boat" that you could bring a car
    over on.

Anyway, did your premium reflect that? If so, then I'd expect it to
reflect the local market conditions. In which case, Glass's value is not
    strictly relevant.

And pay ferry fares (exorbitant) import duty and goods and services tax
    on.

  4. I presume you fancied a replacement, but doing a Haiti on it won't work,
    you know.

    <bad form>

Not to mention nearly £200 to re-register it.

Ah. Not quite what I was expecting from "granite wall fell 60ft"...

That looks like a little light panel damage to the bonnet, presumably
    also bumper/lights and mebbe wings?

If that's all it is, then aim for a cash settlement where you keep the
car, get some good used panels fitted & painted, and sit back with a nice
wodge of cash in your back pocket.

Front grill pushed well in, too, when we pushed the car back a bit. Think
possibly radiator damage but cant get the bonnet up to see!

Probably they punted it on with a cheap 3rd party warranty to cover
their liability if the gearbox gave way.

See the top of the (now) bare-earth bank? That's his drive, and the wall
is his (not so) retaining wall! The lamp now above my car used to light
it. TBH 'slid' is more accurate than 'fell' what ended up on my bonnet
is, I have discovered, the bottom rather than the top of the wall.

    Is the correct answer.

Without the car moving and being "driven", the damage won't be as bad as it
would be had it charged into the wall and kept on charging.
