Car vs Bike accidents. Marques that have gotya.

  1. Hey all

Time for a trip down memory lane....

For those of us that have been collected by a vehicle whilst out riding, I
am curious as to what brand (and model ie small car, 4WD etc) comes up
trumps. I'm more interested in those that did hit you, rather than the ones
that made you swerve and hit something else. Also, male or female drivers?

So far, mine have been both Toyota.
One a small compact Starlet thing,
the other a Landcruiser. Both males one about 50 the other about 60.

Interested in what has impacted on others....

    Yours in morbid voyeurism,

    Hammo

Mine was a youngish man (20?) in, I think, a Corona (one of the last of the Aussie ones) or a Mazda 929.
[Michelle says it was a Laser so we're not real sure... It was a frikkin' CAR!!]

(A woman in a Saab knocked my Triumph over when parked but that doesn't count)

    motorbike
a celica lt2000 green, turned in front of me...no injury, broken fairing,
    dint in tank
a toyota corolla white, turned in front of me...no injury, bent forks,
    snapped triple clamp
a cow turned in front of me
an emu stopped in front of me
this is over a 20 year period, travelling 15 to 50000 km / yr

  6. Interesting topic:
1: Daihatsu Charade u-turned in front of me, I interfaced with the drivers
    door.
2: Corolla turned across my lane, hit the gutter and stopped, I hit his near
    side rear guard.

    pretty much it

1979: Melb. western outer-fringe .Night. Drizzle. Falcon S-wagon, driven by
Mr Suburban Average (mid-30s), Mrs Average and 2 little averages
accompanying, drove out of a sidestreet stop-sign into the path of me and my
purple XS2, resulting in a T-bone crunchy. Mr A decided it must all have
been my fault. Took me to court. He lost. One of my greatest Encounters With
    Dickhead.

1985: Pine Creek N.T. Day. Sunny. Mr Dumb Southern-Tourist (mid 50s) drove a
borrowed Toyota Land-cruiser out of a side street on wrong side of road as I
was turning into same: I had a head-on impact with a 4-wd + bull bar and
limped to tell the tale (low speed impact, obviously) on my Other Yam XS
    650. Useless as a driver, but at least Mr S-T accepted responsibility.

    Yours sincerely, in the pursuit of science, knowledge and truth;

    Shitbox Blue Bluebird - Windsor Rd - Northmead(Syd) - Tues 13th December
    1994

Changed lanes to avoid a taxi which stopped to pick up someone. Braked
heavily but the rear bumber clipped the front tyre & down I went. Bike
skidded along in my lane but went into the oncoming traffic where I bounced
of the side of a wheel of a Landcruiser & back into my lane.
Heard the screeching of tyres as the next car was trying to avoid me so I
rolled as fast along the lane. The car behind stopped about where I was
    lying before.

Shitbox Bluebird kept on it's merry way & prolly didn't know the carnage it
    casused.

FZ750 only had fairing damage ( which was only just fixed after another
    oops)

Me - Graze on back where leather Jacket rode up a little - lost end of
    little finger on RH.

Then there was the whack in the nuts incident :)

I hit the front of a young p-plater guy's old Chrysler Galant I
think or possibly an old Mazda RX something. It was in excellent,
obviously well cared-for condition. Not that I cared.

He was turning right (oncoming) as I was riding straight ahead through a
controlled intersection and he didn't bother to stop until I'd passed.

Now I've got a thing about riding on wet Friday evenings.

8 days ago, green/silver Mitsubishi Triton ute, towing a grey trailer. I
was stopped in the left lane at traffic lights, the other lane moved off
first, and somehow the triton managed from the other lane to knock the
bike out from under me with his trailer while I was still stationary. No
idea as to driver demographic, they didn't stop. Neither did the cop car
    in front of them.

  17. 2 different sentences

    Him, no fault (trailer sway)
    Me, too close !

  18. "Him, no fault" means the truck driver wasn't at fault, "Me, too close!"
means I was at fault. I stuffed up an overtaking manoeuvre, tucked in
beside the truck and fell back, as I was going past his trailer the
trailer swung out and the mudguard mount and smacked into my muffler, my
handlebar weight dug into the tyre and snapped off, my gearsack rack
mounts were broken and a few minor grazes to me and the bike. All of it
my fault for being too close. I did manage to keep it up despite a few
exciting seconds, and learned a lesson about staying away from trailers !

HQ Holden ute. Proud to say that he had to be towed away as well! The old
