Okay, I give up. For the life of me I can't work out how to remove the
carbs as there simply is no way to get to the jubilees holding them on.
Well, no. 1 is fine, the rest are impossible.

The only thing stopping me getting it on the road is that cylinders 1 &
2 aren't running properly and it seems to be carb related. Being
completely transportless this is slightly more annoying than it would
    otherwise be.

How the hell are you supposed to get these damn things off?

    Drop the engine I expect.

Though IIRC Honda used to make some really odd shaped special tools.

Flexible drive to a 6 or 7mm socket, whatever fits the hexes on the
clips. Failing that, I betcha Loz has a way - apart from anything
else, he has a carbed CBR6 of that sort of age himself.

I'll have to wait for him to come back from buying a BMW...

**** off. It got me home, but only because it has four wheels.

Veggie, I haven't a clue cos I have never removed the carbs from my own
bike. I do recall Carl, my housemate, removing the carbs from our mate
Rusty's one, and he had no trouble at all. I'm guessing you just need
to get someone with some muscles in to pull them from the rubbers.

So, what you're saying is: have a bit of rare steak and some offal, give
it another try, and they'll pop off no trouble?

    Sounds good to me.

If David Silver has spares available it might be easier to cut through
the rubbers and fit new ones.

Oh yeah, and let all the swarf fall into the inlets to the engine while
you're at it. Christ you're a thick **** at times.

Every heard of a Stanley Knife ?
If that fails take a Dremel to the clamps.

I could just force them off, but I'd rather do the job properly.

It should be such a simple job...

You have never seen a CBR600 carbs, have you? If access was that easy
then Dave would have had them off by now.

There is no room to get a knife in there, and a Dremel is right out of
    the question.

Swot I fort when I had the carbs off the Zephyr, Christ what a PITA,
ended up having to fabricate new tools by dremelling my Allen keys. And
as for refitting the carbs on to the V4 Honda...

2nd time we did it we'd learned a lot. A wooden mallet was the weapon
