  1. Honda's stock mirrors are so heavy they suck...

Thanks to Taiwan... Chicane mirrors are light weight and cheap sporting
real carbon fiber construction complete with aluminum posts...
    P/N 108-151 Lockhart Phillips $90.00

Chicane carbons are trick but Mr.RC45 deserves more... like a custom
blended wing effect... so I fabricated elliptical Delrin ribs designed
to fit around the aluminum post... next I covered it all with carbon
    fiber sheet...

Now I'm happy... not only did I saved 1 pound 4 ounces overall...
    they're Lovisone styled...

I can see where you'd be so happy. A 1 + pound savings can mean a savings
of gasoline over the life time of the bike of . . . . what? .07? Great!
We are all so proud of you. What next 34 pounds of air in your tires instead
of the normal 35? That would save you 2 more pounds.

  9. Who's interested in saving fuel when less weight means your bike moves
    quicker and feels more agile???

  11. Not sure, I'll ask next time I'm over there. I do know that the
the NSR500V was McCoy's bike (and just recently aquired by the owner)
and that he got the NR750 from a collector in Japan last year and
is was still in the crate.

Does that mean if I let the air out of my 120 psi bicycle tyres I can save
    240 pounds?
    :)

It means more than that, if you consider the number of square inches of
air in the tire. Remember, it's measured in pounds "per square inch,"
so you have to do the calculations to get an accurate answer.

Can't say, please post if you're referring to SAE psi, Whitworth psi or
    Metric psi.

I know the metric conversion is to multiply (or maybe divide, I forgot)
    by .39 micro whazzits.

AFAIK pounds and inches are two of the ancient units that are the same for
everyone. I googled for Whitworth psi but didn't find anything. There is
no such thing as metric psi, metric pressure is the pascal (Newtons per
    metre squared).
Psi is a nice round number which I guess is why it's still used for
nostalgic purposes. For the same reason I like to use feet/inches and
horsepower for any non engineering applications.

On the off chance that you didn't get the joke, I was having a go at phyloe
for thinking dropping tyre pressure reduced weight by one pound for every
psi dropped out of the tyres.

    Whitworth psi>
