How nice of CN to call me several times in the last week to enquire
whether I'd like to renew my insurance 2 weeks before the premium is
due. As I told the chap on the phone, I'll renew when it's due so I can
gain whatever interest it's earning rather than CN having the benefit.

    Rant over.

It got to several times a day after my insurance expired, however asking
them to stop calling worked fine.
MCD are insuring me now, any suggestions for breakdown cover, which
    isn't included unlike with nash?

200 quid at 2% APR for a fortnight*?

    Times must be tough.

    * Replace numbers as appropriate.

Perhaps you should have stuck with CN, if you want the breakdown cover.

They didn't seem interested in insuring someone with my particular
licence 'troubles'. I'd have happily stayed with them otherwise, they've
always been astoundingly cheap till now.

    What cover do you want?

Just 1 vehicle? Personal cover in >1 vehicle? European? Basic roadside
service or with bells & whistles like homestart, onward transport, hire
    car, hotel etc?

    Lots of options out there.

A policy equivalent to the C Nash Euro cover will cost you £59 from
Quoteline Direct. Restricting cover to UK only can reduce the premium to
under £30. If you have Tesco Clubcard points then use them to get RAC
cover. Check out this month's rebates at quidco.com

Heh. I've got a nice photo in my Facebook gallery somewhere with
(almost) all the renewal notices they sent me for a bike I had told
them I had sold. IIRC the stack was in the order of ~20 and I
    subsequently found a few more.
