Hi folks, does anyone here have any experience with the UK/European
Breakdown Service that comes as standard with all of Carole Nash's
insurance policies? I am thinking about taking a policy out with
Carole Nash, who are £20 dearer than my cheapest quote but I figured
that the European Breakdown Cover is worth a lot more than the £20
difference. I do travel to Europe on my bike so it would come in
    handy.

My question is how good is the service that is provided with the Carol
Nash cover? Does it cover you for accidents as well as breakdowns in
Europe? Does it provide any onward travel for the rider and does it
cover bike repatriation if it can't be fixed etc? Anyone with advice
or experience regarding Carole Nash's European Breakdown Cover please
feel free to post your thoughts.

I have carole nash Bike insurance, (I've just renewed today infact ),
they have quite friendly people on the phone.. quite a good company I
think .Breakdown is international recovery on my policy, I thought it
was europ assist , although i cant remember to be honest. The equiv.
RAC or AA would be about 100 quid I expect (for a year )

I would recomend you call them up and talk to them if you have
questions.. they are quite helpful :)

    Yes and recently too.
I broke down in Cornwall (blowed head gasket on the mongvan), they[1]
were unable to get me home straight away due to a zillion other muppets
breaking down in the same area and using up all the available breakdown
trucks so they put me in a B&B for the night and brought me and the
mongvan home the next day. A bit lengthy but all done without undue
    fuss.

Someone elsewhere said about a phone with a full battery, this is good
    advice.

[1] Worth noting that My New Mate Andy and My Other New Mate Steve were
from independent recovery firms on contract to whoever Auntie Carole
have their contract with. I got the impression that, in Cornwall at
least, regardless of who[2] carries your cover you will likely be coming
    home on the same van.

[2] Except the RAC, they both said that their firms will no sub out to
the RAC as they are a bunch of cheapskates who will not pay the rate.

Yes and it's good. They allow you four breakdowns per year, at least
that's what the girl on the phone told me after I'd stuffed "Satan's
    Chariot" into the armco.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. In case you are interested I have
opted for the Carole Nash insurance cover for this next year so I can
rest easy on the European Breakdown cover issue. Hopefully though I
    won't have to use it...

Now *that's* interesting, as I don't remember seeing that anywhere in
their paperwork. And I'm usually pretty good at picking up those little
    gems.

  8. *You* would be. It must be an odd experience, being blacklisted by every
    breakdown organisation in Western Europe.

Heh. And just in case they exchange information internationally, the
AAA membership is in Ann's name...

Interesting. Can't find my current policy booklet at the moment but
something to watch out for on renewal. Or not for that matter,
ebikeinsurance gave me a rather better quote, just waiting for the
confirmation if that was indeed for an unlimited mileage policy.
