    1. do you prepare your cat's food on the chopping board?
    2. are your cats fed on the kitchen table?
    3. do you wash the cat's bowls in with your own washing up?
    4. am I *really* being just a little bit too precious about items 1 to
    3?

With so much open water near your gaff, and sacks available at such
reasonable prices, I'm surprised you got past point 1.

There's not that much where I am *now*.

No cats in my house- it's a house, not a fucking zoo.

I have been known to put cat bowls through the dishwasher along with other
stuff. I can't see that problem with 1 either, to be honest.

However it's a bloody good idea not to feed cats the same food, or in the
same place, or at the same time as people otherwise they start begging or
stealing it from kitchen worktops whilst your back is turned.

Only right at the end, just before the water's thrown away.
They've obviously adopted filthy French habits.

What's to prepare? I just pour it from the bag into the bowl on the
    floor.
    Of course.
I don't see anything wrong at all with 1 & 3. Wouldn't be too happy
    about 2 though.

    Wha? No way.
You're joking, right? Only TV advertisers do this, shirley?
No - I've had a separate sink (utility room in UK, downstairs laundry
room over here) for at least 25 years and the dirty bowls can sit
there to soak for a while if need be.
I wouldn't countenance any of them. So no, assuming that's your
    viewpoint too.

    No, on the worktop though.
    No, floor.
Yes, but after any human washing up.
D'you mind if I don't get involved in this bit?

And mad little old ladies with 300 cats.

Mind you, the sodding things wander around on the table whilst people are
eating often enough, so it's not hugely different, I s'pose.

Ours don't. They're never allowed on tables or worktops, and they know
it. Of course, they will occasionally get up while we're not around,
if there's food left out, but that's very rare indeed.

We open a packet. It's unlikely to involve the board.
They *can* be but it's unusual.
Well, they all go in the dishwasher.
That sort of depends if you are for or against.

Our cat 1 can't (apparently) jump that high, so it's not been a problem
since we moved. Cat 2 hasn't tried yet. She's up on the dining table
though, although not when we're using to for eating.
    Of course.

Many years back we had one that would jump on top of the fridge to knock
    eggs off.

You're doing it wrong. Eggs go _inside_ the fridge, see?

No, squeeze pouch into bowl - deploy on to mat on floor.
    I don't have a Kitchen table.... but no - I wouldn't.
No, seperately - with a different spongey thing as well. Cat's mouths
carry all sorts of nasties like aids, cancer and syphalis.
Not at all... but each to their own I suppose.

    Why?

I mean, when was the last time you saw a supermarket with eggs in the
    fridge?

    They keep better. Why else?
When they wanted them to keep fresh for several weeks, perhaps?
