I see no evidence of piss taking. It looks to me like the bloke was

That's the one. I made it a point of honour to set it off every
morning I could on the bikes, and then decided a bit of discretion was
needed, as the bikes had some rather distinctive ID marks...

 

I think that the People of Southampton should feel pleased that they

rider was tracked down by his clothing etc.

One guy got caught because he had a fucking screw missing from the
fairing/or screen attachment. On a ZX10 IIRC. Plod sat waiting 'til he came
down the same road some time later.
