I fucking loved that bike and gave it away to Matt G with approx
190,000 thoroughly abused niles under its wheels. Some young lad oop
north has restored it, so if the one on gumtree is WRB 979Y then it's
    my old one

Ignore crn, he knows **** all about **** all.

Heh, not at the camp site next to the Monza circuit are you?

That's a good one, or used to be.

Don't forget to bow towards Arcore before you leave.

Would that be just missed out as in you forgot to bid but would have
gone miles higher than the winning bid?

I was going to put in a last minute bid, but was distracted by an
elderly neighbour knocking on my door, needing help with a
    non-functioning phone.

The rechargeable batteries had given up the ghost and she was
panicking, thinking she'd been cut off.

    Shit happens...

As it happens, I was going to go about a tenner more than the winner,
but I reckon he probably had £450 dialled in.

Not managed to get in touch with the bloke advertising the CB250,
    either... bugger.

I reckon I'll wait a month, hopefully some of the smaller bikes will
    drop in price... ?

Why do you think they'll drop? You're more likely to get people
sniffing around for a winter bike once we get to late October.

I was at the Statfold Barn Railway (http://
www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk/) open day [1] on Saturday. There was
one of those in one of the barns in a fairly rusty condition.
Aparently the owner had bought it for about £75 back in the 70s and
used it as a field bike. He'd had an accident on it (quite a bad one
by the sound of it) and chucked it in a shed on the farm. About 20 or
30 years later he wondered if it was still there and after chopping
down a load of brambles that had grown over the shed - there it was.

[1] More beards and beerguts than you could shake a stick at. About
600 tickets sold and about 10 of those were to women.

    I bought mine in 99/00 for £20

I've not spent much on it and use it as a, well, a bike.

In all it's glory at an EOSM - with a free platypus:
