Hi folks...Not posted in here alot but tonight I havea reason to. My CB250rs
went boom today coming home from work. Got it home thanks to the AA
and when I stripped the clutch cover off I saw that the cam chain was
snapped and also the main bearing side plate was bent too. The bike cost me
    £180 (its a 1980)
and Im looking for the best option as what to do now. I believe that Honda
made a 500 single engine that seemingly would fit with not too much
hassle...anybody have any info on this?
If I was to put a 250 back in I would just sell the bike cos its a bit slow
for the 50 mile hike back and forth to work. Any help on the 500 would be
    welcomed.

    Thanks in advance

The XL 500 would just fit, but you had to bore the rear engine mounts out
to 10mm (iirc) and lose the head steady.

but buying an XBR would be easier.

Maybe the bloke rides bikes instead of being an internet protocols
    anorak.

Wrong colour granted but if it were painted yellow I would be forced to
go for a little lie down.

I like 'em, always did. Neat, simple, easy to fix, don't rip through tyres
    in under 3K miles.

Yeh, I had one. Nice little bikes they are. Except that my one ran on 3
    valves not 4.

My 12R doesn't. It's not a prereqisite to have to ride like a complete
    twat, you know !

The 020 rear on the blackbird was still going at 5500 miles too ... I
just made sure I was using the edges of the tyres rather than just the
    middle bit ;-)

Smooth on the throttle, smooth on the brakes ... ;)

thanks, I actually cancelled that bid on the xbr and have found a few 250
engines around the place - easier to fit the same engine in.
Think I'll be selling the bike soon....
