  1. hello,

i am working on my 76 cb500t, and need to get two new air cut-off
valve diaphrams. honda does not make these as a kit, only as an
entire assembly for $90 each! all i need is the insides. does anyone
know of a place i can get a set of these or suitable replacements? i
think 78 gl1000's might work, but am hesitant to order ($20 each)
    without having seen to compare.

    thanx!

  2. I *think* that with suitable re-jetting you can get away with blanking
them off. Honda set up the 500T to run very lean (non-adjustable
needles, small jets) and thus had to fit the carbs with those bloody
diaphragms in order to stop back-firing on the over-run.

But needles can be shimmed, and jets replaced....

I've actually got some used diaphragms knocking around in my garage. No
idea what condition they're in, and I'm a long way from you anyway.....

    http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/misc_carb_parts.htm#AIR CUT-OFF
Has a listing for the '75-79 GL1000, but not for the CB500T, so I
would assume they will not interchange.

Claims to be able to get almost any part for motorcycle carbs, have
    you tried them?

Here's a CB500T carb kit on ebay, which does not include the air
cutoff valve, however, you might want to email the seller, as they
appear to have tons of this sort of thing for old bikes.
