This may be a silly question, but do they usually have velociraptors at
    CERN?

I'm not sure whether I should be concerned that the man doing the press
conference is about 8,000 miles away from the collider.

A safe location from which to announce the raptors?

It's the same energy as a wardrobe strapped to a 28 bus.

  11. While I was reading this, ABC Radio National news had a story on it.
It was one sentence. I can't quote it directly but it was something
along the lines of "and scientists in Switzerland are about to start
an experiment that may give evidence to the beginnings of the
    universe".

Actually I don't think it even had that much detail in it. FFS, they
might as well not have bothered even mentioning it and told us whether
Paris Hilton was going though menopause yet . . .

  17. Bless the BBC, I say. All this techy stuff just escapes the teeny little
brains of the backroom meeja grads.

"The LHC can reach beam energies a million times higher: up to several
    teraelectronvolts (TeV)
This is still only the energy in the motion of a flying mosquito
But that energy is packed into a comparatively few particles, travelling
at more than 99.99% of the speed of light"

Really? So, all the blasted and melted bits after the wandering beam
accident were just caused by mosquitoJoules?

Anyway, how many double-deckers is that?

If you're referring to the LHC accident, I would guess the melting
happened when the superconducting bits stopped superconducting. Was there
even a beam in the ring at the time?
