So my dalliance with a French bike is over. I will be returning home
tomorrow with an empty trailer and a wad of euro notes. 1750 euros to
be exact, but minus the diagnosis labour bill to Pont de Corde. Musn't
grumble because Patrick facilitated the deal and helped with the
French beaurocracy paperwork to ensure the sale of the Voxan went
smoothly. So is the euro getting weaker against the pound or stronger?

I went to get euros from the PO last weekend and was offered 1.04 for to
the pound - I was stunned.

Aye, well, as TOG observed to me: whilst the PO make a big thing of
their "no commission" thing, they do give shitty rates. When I crossed
the Channel in Summer, the rate was about 1.20 : 1.00 and the PO gave
    me 1.11. Bastards, eh?

Euro/£ is currently 1.14780 according to the Beeb.

You're probably better off just using a cash machine when you're there.

Yet they're usually near the top of the best rates table[1]. Unless
neither of you ordered in advance, in which case yeah, most places will
    stiff you.

Ah. No, left it to the last minute, wandered in and just bashed the
card on the spur of the empty wallet. Lesson learned.

Indeed - one would expect to be able to "trust" the PO.
