    Hi all

I've just bought myself a Triumph Speedmaster which needs a new chain and
sprocket kit. I've been riding shaft drives for years and I'm not clued up
    on the best suppliers.

Where is best to order a chain and sprocket kit these days?

And by "best" I mean cheap price but not cheap and nasty materials. I don't
need luminous anodised super high performance race winners. I just want the
back wheel to go round :)

    cheers
    Jack

For chains.. ditto.. just search for DID chain on ebay. There's an
    Adelaide-based supplier that price well.

New sprockets required as well (if you want your new chain to
last..dont even think about new chain on old sprockets).

Welcome to the Trumpy world :)

Yep I bought a super-dooper DID chain off them too and it was heaps cheaper
(delivered) than anything I could get locally!

I've got a brand new JT brand 47T steel rear sprocket for a '93-'98 carby
Sprint/Trident/Trophy etc. you can have for $30 + postage if you're
    interested (I'm in Brisbane).

Clem, spurred on by the complete lack of any reference to 47 in the JT
part number, it' appears to be a 45 tooth.

If you lop two more teeth off I'll consider it for my Dayto.

Just searched ebay. Loads of bike sprocket kits, but no Triumphs.

I did buy a Haynes manual from the UK for 2/3 the Aussie price though.

If anyone sees anybody flogging off triumph chains/sprockets let me know.

This is a return to trumping for me. Last was 1969 Daytona. A REAL Daytona.
This new one may have been born in Britain, but its obvious its parents were
    Japanese.

Google seems to turn up one or more options -
    http://www.google.com.au/search?q="sprocket+kit"+triumph+speedmaster

    First option is
    http://www.british-customs.com/triumph-speedmaster-chain-sprocket-kit.html

Fortunately, I can get bits for my 69 Bonnie from across the ditch quite
    cheaply :)

    Cheers

Plonk in JTR2010 to return all compatible models. Appears to be
generally the 90's Trumpies (but not the T5 series onwards such as the
    595/955 and 1050's).

Trust you didnt grind those 2 extra teeth off as it wont fit mine.

Naah; all the 955/1050 roadbikes have a single-sided swingarm ('cept the
earliest RS) so it's a completely different architecture but I thought it
might fit the OP's Thunderbird or Speedmaster or whatever it was.!

...most of the 955/1050's except the double-sided swingarm Daytona of
    2002-ish.

But this is what it'll fit.

This place promises precsion engineering, which should lead to
increased life. I bought a kit from them for my last bike, but sold it
before the chain was worn, so I can't verify increased life. To my non-
engineer eyes, the gear seemed to be pretty good.
