    Ouch.

    <http://www.bgn.me.uk/hand.jpg>

I was putting a new chainsaw together. I grabbed hold of the chain on
one of the sharp bits and tried to move it so I could be sure it was
going around the sprockets and gave it a good push.

My hand moved a good 4" down the chain with the cutting edge but the
    chain didn't move.

I now feature the mother of all gashes on my thumb.

I think you should keep away from all things mechanical.

Unless you are very familiar with *that* particular piece of machinery I
would stay VERY far away from it or give it to someone that knows what to do
    with it.
You may incur far more worse injuries than just a silly cut

Dangerous toys are chainsaws, and if you want proof try and find an
    Arboriculturist without scars.

As others have said, with your levels of mechanical competence you are
best advised to get a man in. Course it don't help you any that god
    hates poofs either.

Naa, I've used chainsaws since I was a child and have taken a fair few
apart and back together again. This one was just caught me out.

I'm not sure if you're talking about chainsaws or gashes.

  9. That'll teach ya. Use gardening gloves to do something like that.

  10. Well, when you come to use it, a useful tip to remember is there's a
function somewhere that actually causes the chain to rotate. There's no
need to hold it against the tree and move it from side to side.

Anybody posting here with a non-extant email addy in their headers,
such as this "RCW", using ".@." generally turns out to be a turd in a
    wetsuit.

I'm still at a loss to understand his need to constantly change his
posting ID (if it's him) because he's always sussed out within days
and anyone who doesn't want to read his posts just bins him and moves
    on.
