Change of Sig and 916 FS

Well I couldn't resist and I'm picking it up tomorrow.

I therefore have a 916Bip surplus to requirements. I'll put it on eBay
shortly but thought I'd give people here the opportunity to consider it.

It's a red 916 Bip. 1998 on an S plate. It has 29,300 miles on it but has
been maintained regardless of expense and has a full Ducati service history
with loads of receipts to back it up. It was serviced recently and I spent
over £1,300. This included a complete new clutch (inc basket), brake pads
all round, new front wheel bearings and a couple of rockers. It has also had
new chain and sprockets recently (Renthal quick release). It has an MOT
until September.

The bike is completely standard apart from a radial brake master cylinder to
sharpen up the front brakes.

It will need new tyres soon but is otherwise fine.

I'm in Surrey and would consider a good offer around £3,000 for a quick
sale. If anyone is genuinely interested, drop me a mail and I'll let you
have some photos.

Which 998 did you go for? A Final Edition or something
jazzy like an R or a Bostrom?

I've gone for the standard 2003 Bip which will do me nicely. I don't like
the 999 and had been wondering about a 998 when I saw this one in beautiful
condition 1 year old and just over 2,000 miles so I couldn't resist (even if
it is yellow!)

You would be my first choice.

I think the deciding factor is that I've other things to spend 3 grand
on right now.

There'll always be another 916/996/998.

 

And a CBR600 in Maldon, and a CD200 in Mayland, and half a 7R in
Enfield, and a Sport 1000 in Bologna.

Not for ever, and when I come back, I'm going to want some bikes.

I'm not going to get that 916, anyway. <wipes tear from eye>

 

I missed that. How did that come about, then?

 

Well, it might not even exist in parts yet. It's due for delivery in
June 2006, so it's really just a gleam in an engineer's eye.

I've paid a deposit, though.
