chasing some Z50J parts

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Cameron Seeber, Oct 1, 2003.

  1. My flatmate and myself picked up two Z50J's recently off ebay, and were
    chasing some parts for them.
I have a few of these on order from Honda, but not sure if they are
    available.

Headlight (glass, mirror etc, not the bucket)
    Taillight with bracket
Left hand switches (headlights on/off, low/high, indicators, horn)

There are a few other cosmetic things as well.
Given these bikes are pretty hard to find, just email me if you have
anything you want to get rid off.
And I know I have no chance, but anyone has any Z50's for sale I would be
    interested.
We are after basically anything with a compliance plate (even a frame if it
    has a plate)

    thanks
    Cameron

Well, last week there _was_ one definately in Oz. It's now in the
    garage waiting to be fitted.
Honda seem pretty good with parts for these bikes, but, you may have to
wait a while to get them from Japan. (Honda Oz must get parts sent by a
rowing boat, via Madrid or some such!)
Anything could be for sale, at the right price.....
Did the ones you got on eBay have comp plates?

    regards,

  3. Both Z50JZ's (I think thats the model)
    1/80 and a 5/81
About a 2 week wait on this, and the taillight.
Just found out switch is discontinued.
There is a replacement part from MCS that sorta works.
Might have to pop it open and solder in another wire I just worked out, but
    everything else looks right.
Had to do the same for the ignition switch.
Im more interested in getting it on the road before making it all original,
so aftermarket bits will do for now.
Yeah, I know of three in a shop in brisbane, all over $2500.
Looked at them today, they are rough as.
I would expect all original for that price.
    Not even in nice condition.
    Yep, both of plates.

Im pulling mine down next week to get everything powdercoated.
Just deciding if I should get everything done in white, or get the frame
    done black (original)

    <snip>

There's a Z50 in the current edition of Just Bikes, but its a Z50A 1972
model. Dunno if you're interested, but if you are, its on page 110 down
the bottom in the "Dandy dirt bike spares and wreckers" ad. Quote:
"Complete and original. Runs beautifully $1200". Pic looks ok to me.

    Cheers,
    Ash
