I never found a TCat very comfy, still the comfiest bike I've ridden is
my RD, so something like a KLE/Divvy appeals.

OK, mileage isn't tiny, and it's on the IOM, but in all other respects
(reliable, comfortable, luggage) it's pretty much on target and the RS
fairing is still one of the best if you're going to be going out in all
    weathers.

I'd not have suggested a twin shock one like mine, but the mono would
actually be rather good (and a **** of a lot more enjoyable than a
    Divvie 600)

Yes, so no fucker will want to steal it, will they?

Unless they happen to be a BMW pervert...

I think Lozzo is more likely to set fire to it and to make things even
weirder, Packer will try to stop him.

And the K3/4 thou was just as good a tourer as the K1/2.

Which reminds me, I still have the pillion pad off my K3 gixxer thou,
if anyone wants a spare. And I came across the original screen in the
garage at the weekend too. Still fine, as it was replaced by a
    double-bubble quite early on.

Mabbe I should get with it and try and flog some of the crap on

I haven't spent much time doing any long distances on those, so only
spoke from personal experience. Also, the K3/4 and upwards might be out
    of Mike's budget.

Yup, and I also suspect my expectation of "comfy on a bike" doesn't
match 140 miles a day on a GSXR. Besides, if GSXRs really were as comfy
as tourers then Pans would be GSXR shaped.

Naah, you should know that Pans and the like are4 the shape they are
to carry luggage and passengers, not for extra comfort.

And there's also the speed element - if you're happy pottering along
at the legal limit all day then a full-dress tourer might be comfy
enough, but the least bit of spirited riding will demonstrate why
proper bikes hae a slightly more heads-down postition.

For the wind in a straight line, your full dress tourer has a nice screen
to sit behind. If you mean for balance in corners, you can always lean
forwards. Sport bikes have your legs more bent, which should be less
comfortable, but strangely in my limited experience I have more problems
from tourers having wider seats, which gives me cramp in the hips. I
suppose I must be getting old.

Big fat screen = not compatible with 'spirited riding'. What's the
fastest full-dress tourer around atm anyway?

The Kawasaki GTR1400 like WUN's is a bloody fast tourer. With 160PS I
have a feeling they are the quickest of the big full-dress tourers now.
The 2010 model has a few tweeks that address some crticisms of the
earlier model, not that the 2007 bike was bad in the first place.

MCN quote the GTR at 139bhp & 151mph. They quote the FJR1300 at 143bhp &
    154mph.

The FJR seems to be the clit bike for plod around here. Seen loads of them
ridden by gendarmes in France too.

Perhaps the K1300GT, although I don't know the competition. The K1200GT
was pretty fast, and the 1300 is a bit more powerful.

I rode an FJR the other day to get an MOT on it from the place 5 or 6
miles away, and the screen is what lets it down for me. No matter what
position it was in I got terrible buffeting from it which had me
nodding like a Tamil or David Grey.

  20. Street fighter it. : )

My CBR1000RR with an mx bar conversion is really comfy to commute on.
