    Define "a bit of attention"

I'm a mechanical philistine, but am looking for something crap to

Apparentl;y it needs the cam and cam cover fitting, which means timing
up the cam correctly. A piece of piss to do if you are careful.

I'd budget for a set of tyres and a chain and sprocks, so all in about
200 quid roughly. These bikes cost absolutely **** all to keep on the
    road.

I thought that a 250 4-stroke was permitted because the power to weight
ratio and overall top speed was sort of similar to a 200cc 2-stroke.

But they are really crap [1]

[1] I know - I had one, and crap it was.

Blimey. I've had a couple and I'd definitely not say they were crap.
Not in the slightest. *if* you consider them for what they are.

I think you're wrong, maybe you had an abused one. I have 3 of them now.
I think they are great bikes when you consider they were only built to
be a little commuter. 21 years and 185,000 miles down the line and one
of mine's still plodding along. I can still embarrass much bigger bikes
    with it, can't I Nigel?

[1] It wasn't Nigel I did this too, but he witnessed it.

I can see some logic in that argument but IIRC the rules were decided after
the consumption of significant amounts of alcohol so such clear logic was
    not applied.

As it turned out the 4 strokes (CG125 and Z200) were faster on the day.

Embarrass me? Not at all. No one on the motorway knew that I know you.

    It is true.

  12. I'd ask why the cam was out in the first place. Shagged lobes,
    perchance?

I'd also want to know how long it's been out and if the cam cover's been
left off whilst the bike's outside in the rain...

For 39 quid I wouldn't bother asking, just buy it and rob it for the
useful parts like rear wheels and the decent exhaust it has. But... I
already have 2 spares bikes anyway and don't need a third.
