cheap leathers.

OK, I know it's kind of a contradiction, wanting cheap safety gear,
but unless I can shed a stone by late august my tried and trusted wolf
leathers are likely to be a 'bit' too snug for a whole week of
    touring.

So, what brands are ok, and what brands are to be avoided? All I
really want is mostly black and 2 piece, no need for a back protector
as I've a knox kompact one I can use if it'll go on under them.

I bought a pair of Akito leather jeans for £75, 2 years ago. They come in
fat **** sizes, obviously, and crucially, the legs don't taper so I can
wear them outside my boots. I can't get my calf and half a cow into my
    Daytona Nonstop boots.

They seem to be wearing well. Darren should be able to put you onto a local
    stockist.

Depending on how cheap you want to go and how much you value your
skin, we've had really good leather and textile from Scott.

I've worn mine in snow and torrential rain, bone dry at the end of the
    journey.

I need to pick up a new pinlock insert before Thursday - riding home
from the pub this evening the only bit of kit that let me down was the
visor misting up. Goretex from neck to toe did the trick.

register for HG's emails at http://www.4theride.co.uk/ and you'll get a
voucher for 20% off leathers or 10% of other stuff

A while back I got a new HG Devon III jacket, so at some point when I
can next be bothered to go to an HG shop will get the trousers to go
with.. it's nice stuff. That lot can then replace my 5 yr old ghastly
orange RSR kit that I'm about to wreck in Chimay. It's just leather
feels more invulnerable for twatting about on alpine roads.

A bit of googling seems to have turned up a few options for decent
enough 2 piece leathers around the £300 mark, so not the end of the
    world if I do both.

Ta wessie. I'll do just that and use it on the trousers I just
    mentioned in my other post.

Is exactly what I was about to post.
And I would have mentioned HG, but arent't they TOTR? Ginge did say
"cheap" and I'm sure there must be Shelltex/Goretex options cheaper
    than those.

No, the Master V GTX (or something like that) is the top of the range
[1]stuff, something like 500 quid for the jacket, 300 for the trews.

Tbh, I'm not sure I'd have shelled out full price for the Cruise either
at the time but at an end-of-line knockdown price it was an absolute
bargain. It really is worth full ticket though. Brilliant kit.

    [1] I'm assuming that's what TOTR means.

The Devon III jacket I have is shelltex, and fine at that sort of
    thing.

Easier said than done though, seemingly it's all gone to the belly, so
needs slow fat-burning hours of excersise type stuff that is proving
tricky from behind a desk. Regular half hour bursts of activity that
are easy to fit into my schedule don't really touch it.

Plus my (probably 6 or 7 year old) leathers are a smaller size than
I've worn day to day for the past few years.

Dingly ding. Bearable in the 32+ degress in recent weeks too. Hard to
    believe considering today's weather.
Do the pinlocks 'wear out'? I noticed mine misting up the last few
    mornings as well.

Dunno, I bent one of the end tabs on mine which fucked the seal. The
insert was lovely and clear but the wall of fog between it and the visor
    made life a bit tricky.

You'd need to cut out a thousand calories a day to drop a couple of
pounds a week. That's not exactly sustainable without adding exercise to
    the mix.

Nah, you need to eat more, but only eat stuff that'll give you food
    poisoning.

Yup this whole thing of "a man needs 2500KCal a day is bollocks. I'm
probably eating no more than 1750 and it's holding stable and it
probably took weeks of ~1000 a day when the leg was broken to actually
    loose 4kg.

I've been eating less for weeks, and seem stuck at 11.5 stone. Part
of it is muscle, the rest is on my belly.

Bear in mind when i bought these leathers I was 10 stone and had a 30
waist. They've just run out of stretch.
