Right, this cheeky cnut is sticking my deathless prose and recent
    issues of Classic Bike onto
    CDs and flogging them.

    See:

And this guy is doing the same thing

Fascinatingly, exactly the same picture of the RD400 Dossier appears in
    this auction

This tells me that jaffa281160 and clubtinkeys may be the same user.
That, or one's nicked the other's picture. No honour among thieves....
And the terminology of the titles suggests that all three could be the
    same user.

EMAP knows and their lawyers are about to get medieval on the perps'
arse(s). What I want to know is how somebody can be so stupid as to
scan a recent magazine issue and admit to the world that they're
    flogging copies?

Because in reality, there is **** all you can do about it (unless you are
prepared to spend far more money than you could ever dream of getting back).

It is a very simple process to get copyright or trademark infringement
    listings removed from eBay (VERO).

Try searching for any Microsoft product on eBay. Prepare to be not amazed at
the freqency of the words "Backup CD", as if this provides the seller with
some sort of immunity from prosecution...

  4. You know they say there's no such thing as bad publicity. Well I find
    myself bloody tempted to bid.

if that's the only bit of the magazine they want a copy is all you need
(I am not saying its legal) it makes little difference if you read the
original or a facsimile of it

I dunno why you're worried about the RD400 dossier, Jim Moore is
    credited with writing it.

  9. Try reading that on your lap top on a train. A pdf version is far more
    versatile.

What part of "EMAP and their lawyers" escapes you, then? I'm not doing
anything. The silly sod(s) is about to be on the receiving end of the
sort of nasty communication that will make his legs buckle.

It's more fun to **** the perps over, though.

    You little tinker.

Some bod paid £30 for an RD400 dossier recently. That one was actually
genuine - there's this guy who carefully separates the Dosssiers from
the mag, waits a while, and then flogs them in natty clear plastic
binders. EMAP can't do anything about it. I've suggested they do the
    same.

Well, I'm not worried per se. The XT500 one is mine. But if EMAP
decides to re-sell the Dossiers itself, I get a percentage of any I've
done. Which I won't if some nurk is flogging facsimiles.

Anyone want to buy an RD400 Dossier cheap - first £25 gets it. Genuine
and still in the complete and good condition magazine, not some
    butchered and plastic bound rubbish.

It's amazing, really. If I were EMAP I'd be very pensive about this,
because it shows they have a second market for their stuff.

I dunno if I've asked this before, but have you any idea where they got
the RD400F registered TCL 684W in the main shots, as I used to own it
    back around 1992/3?

  17. There's nobody ever claimed those people were smart. Personally I don't
see a problem if the copies are of mags long since out of print and
unobtainable from a back-issues reserve, but to include recent stuff is
    a bloody cheek.

No, this is the first time you've mentioned it. Mind you, haven't you
owned most of the RD400s brought into the UK, at one time or another?

Write or phone and ask them?

Your understanding of REAL WORLD is lacking.
The eBay Pirate will not be 'fucked over' by anyone for such a small scale
    copyright infringement.
The worst that will happen is his listings will be removed and he may lose
    (very unlikely) his eBay account.

Now if he started selling large quantities, he may well find he does get
    'fucked over'.

Not quite all, only 29 different ones, but some of those up to three
    times each.
Will do. I'm just curious because it's not the first time it's appeared
in print - I found it via an article in Japanese Classic Magazine in
which it featured. I've also seen it at a couple of shows since I sold
    it.
