  1. Ah yes, I remember that.
    Don't remember that one, though.

I did a bit of reading earlier... http://www.out-law.com/page-5633

Copyright on magazines (or other typographical arrangements) is only
    valid for 25 years.

    Hardly surprising they lost.

"In a typical publication, copyright subsists both in the content of a
work and also in the typographical arrangement and design elements of
the work. *Typographical arrangement covers the style, composition,
layout and general appearance of a page of a published work.*"

Oh poo. Nevermind, let's not let facts get in the way here... it's
still not 75 years. It's 70 years after TOG dies.

    Dead pool, anyone?

  11. In uk.rec.motorcycles, The Older Gentleman belched forth and ejected the
    following:
I only see it as I understand it.
This is true and was my point.
OK, so maybe I didn't see the original thing. I don't buy bike mags very
    often these days.
I wasn't suggesting you were outraged, just that stuff gets nicked, as
    you just pointed out.
Well I think I missed it then. I saw no mention of EMAP or any other
publishing house except for the mention of BiKE magazine.
I'm not having a go, I'm saying it as I see it but TBF, I suppose one
has to work in the industry to see the humour in it. A bit like when we
take the piss out of our competitors for something. A bit like a private
    corporate joke.

Oh, and I really must lay off the beer for a few days at least ;-)

  14. Which is through a glass, darkly.
    You most certainly did.
FFS. BIKE magazine wasn't mentioned *at all*. And the last para begins:
"EMAP knows and their lawyers are about to get medieval on the perps'
arse(s). " So, having proved you didn't actually read the posting.....

In the light of the above, it would be a very good idea.

I'm afraid I'm with the ursine one on this - I can see no reason for
your posting, other than a desire to start an argument with fuckwits,
which as ever you seem more than happy to do.
It's verging on Trollish, is all.

I can assure you - and anyone else - that I had no intention whatsoever
to start an argument. Hard to see how one could start an argument,
actually, from a simple posting about a half-assed breach of copyright
posted to the only two ngs which might consider it relevant.

Instead, however, we have Bear pouring out his usual poison which - to
be frank - is fucking tedious. The supreme irony is that in his rant
about the x-post, he maintained the x-posting, and I'd suggest that
posting a load of poison across two ngs is Trollish in the extreme.

Now, to keep you and everyone else happy, in addition to disclaiming
any trolling intent[1], I've removed the x-posting because this sort of
thing isn't relevant to upce in the slightest. Happy now?

[1] Now, when I am out to troll, which I wil admit happens from time to
time, I put in a little indication that I am genuinely trolling. See my
first post in the Pinochet thread for this.
