  2. You would absolutely *love* it. Trust me on this. All that amazing
    strange Professor Branestawm-like engineering.

And then there are the race bikes....

I've talked myself into it, but subject to a couple of conditions which
    need to be resolved first.

I'm planning on getting a Friday morning tunnel crossing, and going
straight to Chimay to find a prime tent location.

OK, I think I'm going to have to make a ferry booking.

Is there any alternative to camping? I like a modicum of luxury.

Camper van or a bigger tent, I guess.

  6. Not really. The hotels are not within any kind of decent staggering
distance, and it's only for one night anyway.

  8. Some are doing that. A bunch of us are going out Friday afternoon,
reeling in maybe 100 miles of the 160-odd from Calais, Friday night in a
hotel, decent grub and lots of wine, and then get to the circuit on
Saturday morning. I'll book you in the hotel if you don't mind sharing a
room. Or a single if you prefer.

Then back Sunday afternoon. It really is a short hop over the Channel.
Not as far as Sedan, for example.

Tickets: about £7-8 on the gate, for the whole weekend.

Excellent. Book me a single, would you? I do like to fart and scratch in
    privacy.
Wonderful. I'll get cracking on making my clutch hand work ASAP.

Are you going by Ferry? Me and my mate Graham are on, er, one from Dover
on Saturday, quite early, seven I think. He's booked it. P&O if that
    helps.

I was halfway through booking with Eurotunnel.

P&O have offered the 06:25 and the 07:55 as the only alternatives
around 7 am. The first doesn't appeal too much, tbf.

  18. Well I'm really tempted, but I haven't got a fucking clue about camping,
can anybody recommend a tent/sleeping bag that's easy to strap to a
    bike?

On Jun 11, 8:14 am, "mike. buckley"
You can get a one/two man Eurohike tent that folds down to a tube
around 60cm long and 15cm in diameter, and sleeping bags of a similar
size - just pop down to Millets/Blacks/wherever and take a look -
there are plenty to choose from.

How much are the hotel rooms? I may have raised some interest here,
ideally tag along with the Friday group for ease of navigation.

Is the Sunday petrol situation in France any better than a few years
ago? I'm not getting a great tank range on the turbo - about 110 miles
before the fuel light starts flashing, but allegedly there's about 5
litres left, I'm going to have to test it properly I think.
