**** all those Kwak fans, Yamaha have made some of the defining
motorcycles of the last 40 years.

 

They haven't done badly. Air-cooled and water-cooled two-strokes. R1.
Kickstarted (heh!) the whole big thumper thing. Built probably the best
over-750cc sports-tourer to come out of Japan (the FJ1200). The
five-valve Genesis engine and the downdraught carb idea.

We'll draw a veil over some of their less successful ideas, mind.
