So, obviously, this morning it needed to be bump-started.

Then on the way work, the fan cut in, and the rev counter needle
    dropped to zero.

I'm *hoping* that it's only a loose connection to the battery, where I
wired in the GPS cable the other week.

If it's not, then what? Alternator? Reg/Rec? Shouldn't be battery as
it's new, and was fine yesterday a.m.

It gets ridden five days a week, just not for very far. In fact it's
done more miles so far this year, than in any other full year of
    ownership.

I wore rose tinted specs for many years.

I still technically own an RD400F, one of the first off the production
line with chassis number 123, but I'm fucked if I can remember where
most of the bits are. I think the engine was left with one sister, the
frame with another etc, but who knows?

Are they lardy though? I don't want a superfast bike that weighs a lot.
Better a Gixxer thou with Renthals shirly. The K1/K2 have excellent
    pillion pads.

    It isn't.

I'm now hoping I left it "park" last night.
I'll stick it on the Optimate when (if) I get it home.

  10. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Champ
    Sounds excellent to me.

The pillion pad itself is nice and spacious and not that much higher
than the rider - nowhere near as bad as a 12R for instance - but the
distance from seat to pegs isn't great so can be cramped for the
taller passenger. My usual companion is 5'8"ish and commented how much
nicer a hired Guzzi was in comparison to the 'Busa. Obviously there's
    no accounting for taste.

Well, I thought this one was in 1980.

Bear in mind, I owned a KH250B3 at the time.

Tori is a size 10, she found my Gixer's pillon seat perfectly fine.

Well Di was a 6 and Carrie a 10 like Tori. **** only knows what kind of
elephants Champ was dating when he had his ;o)

TBF I found it ok other than the high footrests.

I don't know why Bear doesn't rate the engines, I've never encountered
anything like them. Bottom end of a Deltic and top end of a Jetfighter,
as you know Loz. An R1 and a 10R feel quite weedy at low revs by
    comparison.

R1 motors have got worse as time's gone on, the 07 model is absolutely
gutless at the bottom end and doesn't have great deal of midrange
    either. I can't fault the 04/05 ZX10R engine though, that's as grunty
as all **** right through the rev range.

My new one certainly has more mid-range than my 10R. And Suzuki have
a sensible running-in rev limit of 6.5k which gives you 100mph in top.

The pussy-switch is a waste of time though. And I don't think the
pillion pad on this would be as comfy as a K1/2 because it's about
half the size. Adjustable footpegs are a nice touch though and the
bars are a bit higher than the 10R which makes it more comfortable and
in my case easier to ride fast.

I didn't dare hold onto the 10R with the warranty due to run out in 8
    months.
