Right, I've pretty much made my mind up (tm darsy)

    Either:

    CBF1300S in red/white (£7250, 0% finance over 2 years, 10% down)
    or
XJR1300 in black. (£6500, or £6k for a scratched one from Infinity at
    Clapham)

TBH, the Honda is winning hands down, atm, but the 0% is due to end
    soon, I think.

Too sporty, designed to go too quickly (for me, not in principle),
possesses too many of the characteristics that are why I don't want a
    Blackbird anymore.

I want to be more sitty-uppy, iyswim, than I am on the B'bird.

    I'm getting on, you know.

Why do you rule out the new 1250 Bandit then? as capable as any of that
    bunch and cheaper.

Suzuki: I don't want to own a ball of fur after a couple of winters.

Also: why is it cheaper? Cos it's been made cheaply.

Ah, I see we're into the post-suggestion analysis phase. So why not the
    Tre-K?

Bandits seem to resist the elements well enough and are cheaper due to
market placement and sales volumes. I read a test or two that put them
    above the Honda.

ewww. If you must buy the Honda, FFS have the taste to get the F, not
    the S.
that's a lot of dosh for a bike that was designed in 1994.

I'm thinking of Dodger's delicate sensibilities here. Obviously, if I
was buying one I'd have the 1078RR in black/grey.

    Heh, good sensible commuter eh?

In that case, go for broke. How about a Vyrus 985?

Most kind. However, neither MV Agusta or Benelli, scream "daily
    commuter" at me.

I doubt it'd be an option either way. If he thinks the Benelli looks
melted, gawd knows what he'd make of the Brutale headlight. I'd expect
something along the lines of 'melted, re-styled by Dali, then melted
    again'.

    I saw a CB1300S today in 1st Line, when I popped in to buy a battery. I don't
think it looked good, even with my retro hat on. Maybe I'm not old enough to
    appreciate it.

I would echo Loz's suggestion re WC's bike, but then I know **** all about
    bikes.

Well quite. The new 1250 is a cut above and TBF the final edition of the
oil cooled engine was too. The CB13 looks like nothing special for more
    money.

I think it took Champ under 5 minutes on a 10R to decide he had to get
rid of his K1 and buy a 10R.
