Yeah I know what you mean. It's almost as if the bastard who designed the
seat thinks we all ride standing up. Had a ride on a friends CR 500 but
sitting on the fence down the side of my house is more comfortable! Didn't
buy it and bought an IT 490 instead, at least the seat is reasonably wide.

  3. Mhm. Standing up on a dirtbike. You're right... it'll never catch on...
A comfy seat to make up for 20-year-ol brake and suspension technology... a
    sound compromise.

I'm actually amazed that there are people who can so accurately pick the
ache in their arses out of the white noise of the all-over hammered
sensation with which you return from a loop along the trails.

If pushed, I'd probably vote forearms, rear delts, quads, lower back, in
that order... and, yes, my YZ426F has a length of 2x4 timber for a seat.

  4. Tried the Asterisk ones which look like a step towards making you into a
cyborg? The ones Stephen Gall brings in from the US... they have hard
lockouts to stop your knee being bent or straightened beyond a set point, a
replica of the kneecap out the front to hold your actual kneecap in place,
etc... they look solid enough to be used to clear mines in Cambodia.

    (stomp)
    BOOM
    Whee... this is fun...!

I'm thinking of demanding a set from the insurance fairy...

Not hard to rebuild suspension or put disc brake front end on..and if
your not racing you dont need all the latest.. The Husaberg salesman
disagreed.. it would be a waste of a bike for what I want, but he
didnt think so, as I walked next door lookin at DRZ400 LMAO
Forearm pump sucks... remember it well on the TT....

Was watching the aussie MX champs on tele yesterday on Optus,
listening to Dack commentate.. he was talking about pump lots.

Not everyone needs the purest motorcycling experience their dollar can
buy everytime they throw a leg over a bike IK. I've got an absolute rat
bike 1983 IT250 that bottoms the rear shock on a regular basis, but it
still puts a smile on my dial. Hell, I actually really enjoy riding my
1986 XT250 to work and back every day and its got marshmallow instead of
suspension, single leading shoe front brake and enough vibes to blur
your vision, not to mention the vile miasma eminating from the exhaust
    *waves to BT*

As for my chosen road bike, well, I think you'd just shake your head in
disbelief. Especially if you rode it round a bumpy corner, actually
then it would be the bike that was shaking its head, not you :)

  7. Biggus, just get a big lump of foam and wrap it around what's already
there. Better yet, wrap the whole bike to minimise crash damage:)
Mick, how's the power delivery on the IT490? is it hard to control?
    and reliability?
I'm designing a race bike (like a 2-stroke supermono) for my thesis
and at the moment the IT490 is at the top of my engine list so I'm
    after owners opinions.
    Thanks

That's what I loved about my 1979 Yahama YZ. Narrow arse, wide seat.
    Comfort++++
