Checked in to Coonabarabran and delayed getting dinner as Leon was 3 hours
    behind.
The Motel Restaurant was closed but the room had a brochure for Eagle Boys
pizza so I waited until just before 8 (when they closed) and ordered 2 large
    pizzas to be delivered.
    "$47.95" she says.
    "What the..?"
"Yep, $47.95 is the list price for two large pizzas"
Thinking "list price" might be a clue I asked "do you have any specials?"
"Two pizzas, garlic bread and bottle of coke for $15.95"
    Woohoo!

So I order and settle in to wait with a few tinnies and eventually she shows
    up.
    "$50.95 please"
"Wha... I thought you said $15.95?!!?"
She wouldn't take credit-card and between us gNat and I only had $40 cash
but she wouldn't accept that so we had to watch as she took the pizzas away
    again!
By this time I've drank too much to ride anywhere and none of the other
delivery places are answering so all she got to eat was a packet of Doritos
    that Leon had.

Needless to say she wasn't happy.

    ........

Geez mate, you need to learn how to do it properly.

    Walk into Northam Eagle Boys.
"One large super supreme please and don't forget the anchovies"
    Wait...
Pizza is handed over the counter.
    Say "Thanks Pauline, thanks Matt"
    "No worries Unca Theo".

    Easy! And very cheap.

Mention that next time before coming here, and I'd shout you one. I'm
assuming you're not an axe murderer. Axes never deserve to be
    murdered.

    You've got the wrong rellies.

OTOH, all the rellies get free donuts and coffee at Midland Donut
    King.

I'd reckon $25 for one pizza and a $15 tip would have had her on her knees.
Try that one on her next year!

I dunno what the problem is. I remember in the 70s when Pizza Hut was
the only chain pizza shop, and Dino's had yet to invented mass
production home delivery pizza, a pizza from a suburban pizza shop was
    $15 for a large/family.

Checked out the Eagle Bros online ordering website for Coonabarabran..
    $12 delivery!!!

My local charges $16 for a delivered "medium" which is large in most places.

It's very good pizza indeed and well worth the money. I eat the
cheap chain store rubbish if I have to, but I'll pay Wally his money
    in preference.

Our local pizza places charges $23 for a delivered large pizza from the
deep dish range and about $32 for a delivered large pizza from the
gourmet range. It only costs $12 to add a second one but I can't
actually eat 2 large pizzas so that doesn't help me much.

There is no other pizza place which covers our area so they have people
    by the short and curleys.

Local pizza it too far away. Helen and I went halves in an outdoor gas
pizza oven for Christmas. And now I can have all the anchovies I want.

When *I* was a kid in the late 1980's, I remember not only the pizzas
tasting like real pizza, and not only being big enough to feed a
*whole* family, but only costing $7! That was just down from the fish
and chips shop where you could get minimum chips for a dollah that
could also feed a whole family before you included the massive pickled
onions for 20c each. Kids these days...
I could swear I've had them for $6 there. But I'm usually schmart
    enough to avoid them.

I'm normally schmart-enough to avoid stopping in Coonabarabran [1] but there
were contributing circumstances this time and my daughter decided that
    a) we were staying in a motel instead of the pub and
    b) we were having pizza for tea!

When I was a kid there were no pizza shops. We sometimes had fish and
chips on a Friday. 15/- ($1.50 to you young people) would a piece of
fish each and more chips than the ten of us could eat.

    Kids these days....
