And when I put up a wanted CX500 post a while back no-one had one.

I take it that it is the CX500A, the one where the crank failed early in
it's life? If was only on the CX500B when the crank was sorted that the
engines ran for long enough to discover the camchain problem.

  4. Well.. now's your chance...
engines ran for long enough to discover the camchain problem.

Well.. I can only go on what frame numbers are in my Haynes manual so here
    is what info I have:

It's not a CX500A (1980, with square master cylinder, flyscreen and alloy
    rad surround) It's a CX500 original model (1978, with a round master
    cylinder).

    Frame number is CX50002015012

As for the crank and the cam chain... well.. it's done around 35000 miles so
I can only assume that if anything was going to snap it might have done so
by now. My local Honda agent seemed to think it was ok when I took it there
for a service and MOT shortly after buying it in 1997.

No, I don't want one now, I wanted one then.

What on earth would I want with a slow overweight pushrod twin oh hang
on what on earth would I want with another slow overweight pushrod
    twin...
    Fair enough.

  6. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Anthony London"
Ye gods, I haven't seen one that clean and original-looking for years.

It would have been worth your while to put a year's ticket on it before
    sale.

  7. You're not alone in suggesting that, so I have! It passed its MOT this
afternoon. So... nice clean example of an early CX500, full 12 months
MOT.... OK I guess I should have MOT'd it BEFORE putting it up for sale but
sometimes one just acts on impulse. I really felt that after only doing 300
miles in the last 2 years with me it really needed a new owner to cherish
    it.
