Cleaning silencer

Noticed last night when I stopped for a smoke I had caught my waterproof
trousers on the silencer of my SR250. They are the cheapo polyurethane
lined nylon and have left a nice residue on the chrome, so before I attack
it with I don't yet know, does anyone know the best way of removing it. I
thought about warming it up to soften the residue and trying to scrape it
    off with a wooden spatula.

    TIA

A smear of Nitromorse paint stripper. Leave for 5 minutes ans wipe off. And
before anyone gets all shitty, it works like a charm. On chrome, on nickel
    and on stainless steel.

    And it does NO damage.

  5. Don't bother, my Ole VT carried a faint advert for Tesco welded in
reverse on the nearside can about a week after I bought it and it never
    did it any damage.

Thanks for the sensible replies, I took the worst off with a coin then
soaked the last bit in paint stripper for a hour and as advised it came off
    a treat.

Don't know how slow yours is!

I live in Sudbury, Suffolk, and have a girlfriend in Northampton and often
run it along the A14/A45 and it runs nicely at 65, but will cruise easily at
70, but pushing it too much worries me being as it is so old (1982). What I
do like is the fiver each way in petrol. I would like to find another
decent MZ TS250/5. The couple I have had in the past would run all day at
80, and had a headlight that actually lit up the road.

Quite honestly though I am in my 60's, my reflexes and concentration levels
are not what they where in my younger days, so matching my speed to my age
    probably isn't a bad thing.

    Bill says...
The SpazzTrakka's in dire need of a rebore, but it still trots along
happily at 60 - 65mph. It will, at a push, top 80 with the wind behind
me, but I am terrified of having to brake for anything because at that
speed it won't stop until I hit the county line. Plans are afoot to fit
a new disc braked front end and get the engine rebored.

My SR doesn't look like a normal SR250 anymore, it now looks like this:

I'd like to find one at all...

Incidentally, the Supa 5s were 250/1 and the Trophy was 250/2 but the
mighty Trophy wouldn't do 80. At all.
