I am curious how many of the posters here would be in favor of buying the
Walker's a one way ticket to Siberia?

  3. Ignore/Kill file is a good option that may work for you. Here is some
common advice on Usenet if you find someone annoying :

Internet trolls come in all shapes and sizes.
"Don't feed the trolls" is a standard phrase used to deal with people
who love to hear themselves talk endlessly or stir up conflicts in
newsgroups. Trolls feed on the responses to their posts, so the catchy
comeback or rational argument only eggs the miscreant on further,
    delighting them in causing a ruckus. Trolls are like mangy stray cats;
if you feed it, it won't go away but sticks around pissing on everything
in sight. Best thing is to ignore them and move on without them in your
life. You won't miss anything of consequence by kill filing a troll.

Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London was created to let loudmouths stand
on their soapbox every Sunday and spout off to any passer by who would
listen. Trolls believe it is their right to do the same on Usenet. This
demonstrates the trolls lack of understanding of the purpose of Usenet
newsgroups and their willfull ignorance of netiquette.Trolls consider
themselves much too important for such niceties or conventions of use.
In unmoderated groups such as this one, The best recourse is to simply
ignore/kill file the troll, keep ignoring them and life for the reader
    improves immeasurably.

I find the mouse is a very good utility to click on another thread that
interests me.. Seems to work every time.. Good advice though.. BTW.. How
does the "killfile" thing work on a public newsgroup.. Only the "monitor"
    would have that utility..
We have really had some good ones on this group for quite a few years.. Some
    even call themselves "BIKERS"
Very sage advice and is especially effective if one chooses to attack
another.. Trouble is, I can't figure out how to make this "killfile" work..
LMAO.. Now about "cleaning up this newsgroup".. How would you propose to
make the changes to suit your expectations ?? We could always limit this
group to the "for sales" or "wtb's" and then we could become a social tea
club, discussing only the niceties of our pretty little lives.. We could
also limit some of the postings concerning accident reports and traffic
violations, since they might be offensive.. Oh My.. where do we start and
how far should we take this "cleansing" of our newsgroup ?? Please tell us
Mr. "Another Viewer".. The little "troll" you are advising seems to be very
    dedicated and concerned.. ROTFL..

Well said. I hope everyone will give your advise serious consideration
and then follow through with it. I plan to do exactly that. I came to
this group to communicate with other bikers about riding but all the
venting of nervous political anger and paranoea has been like having
someone farting at the Thanksgiving dinner table. Only the guy doing the
farting is relieved and it's at the expense of very one else.

Oh .. I forgot.. you didn't mention the strategy "most preferred"..
"cleaning up this newsgroup" .. Now one of the ways that I have seen over
the years has been to recruit all your "buddies" , and get a "team" gang
bang going.. Just gang up on that ole' "troll" (by the way, never did get a
clear definition of a "troll") Seems to be lots of them, though.. However..
that may risky.. sometimes that ole' troll just might have teeth and could
bite.. Go get 'em "another viewer".. and the "come lately guy".. Ya'll clean
this group up.. Cheeit.. I might just get in there with you.. ROTFL..

Yep.. feel free to commence communicating at the earliest.. Well said..
indeed.. I thought the "killfile" thing was the way to go..Then lo and
behold, I thought of the "mouse" thing, all of a sudden.. Damn.. I can click
on anything.. Who'd have thought of that.. Have a good one.. LOL

  10. After attempting logical discussion with 'em, I finally put both dad and
junior in my killfile. They can rant all they want, and I'll be blissfully
unaware. I suggest the strategy to anyone else who's tired of their logic-
    free tirades.

  13. if you use Outlook Express:

Select the Message or From/ Author
go to the Message menu pulldown at the top bar.
    Create Rule for Message... or
    Block Sender or
    Ignore Conversation
it should be obvious from there

    If you use Eudora:

Under the Filters menu, it's completely obvious
    Filter this Subject
    Filter this Author
    Kill this Subject
    Kill this Author
    etc...

These functions can also highlight threads in crowded newsgroups,
making it easy to find subjects you are following.
it's not that hard to do and that function is there for a reason
use it or not however you wish, it's your computer.

LMAO.. In all that past year, I have yet to find one original post you have
contributed to this group to "bait" or otherwise influence anyone.. Also.. I
have never directed even one of my postings to you.. So THIS "idiot" isn't
    impressed by YOU..

At least you and most of the intelligent ones
Yep and especially the "come lately's" who are on a crusade to "clean up"
something.. Talk about "self elevated moronic freaks".. Yep..
Better look around you, "snowball".. you may have more company than you
    think.. LOL

  15. It depends on the newsreader you're using. At the suggestion of an on-line
friend of mine, I switched from Outlook Express to the excellent Xnews.
All I have to do is highlight a message from the bozo I want to killfile,
and press K. I don't recall how to do this via OE, but you can check this
    excellent killfile FAQ:

  16. Today, for the first time in quite a while, I opened tx.motorcycles and
didn't see any of Walkers' rants. A real improvement. Thanks, XNews!
    Amen to that.

(Note: Thank you Memo, from the desk of Tom DeLay, dictated by Dubya)

    Dear Albert..
I know that you are a strong supporter and this memo has been passed over
from the WH to forward to you.. We appreciate your support and those ole'
biker types down there in Texas should take example from your strong
actions.. Kill file them suckers !!.. Let that be a lesson to 'em..Maybe ,
you'd be good enuff to advise us which VA hospitals me an' Tom should close
next.. Seems like all the sorry ol' vets are gettin' more lib'ral ever day..
Hell.. they are impudent nuff to expect the guvmint to provide health
cuv'rage for 'em.. I don't give a "rat" what all those other 'murican
presidents promised them.. Now that got all those pesky varmints I sent to
eyerak wantin' me to pay 'em some more money that dam Rumsfeld promised
'em.. Don't they know, it is their duty to take over them ole' oil fields
over there to enhance the bottom line for my buddies in the oil bidness..
Dam.. they are even expectin' us to provide for their families while they do
their duties.. Can you 'magine.. Now.. you be sure to tell all them ol'
biker types in Texas, me and Tom are thinkin' bout them and assure them that
if any of their sons decide to desert the army or what not, we understand,
they are only followin' the example we have set for them and they won't be
demonized or prosecuted.. Whaduya' expect.. 'preicate all the support, and I
assure you, if you fail to support us, we'll send ol' John down there to
arrest you for treason and bein' unpatriotic.. That ain't no threat, it is a
    promise of more to come..

Sincerely Tom and Dubya.. your friends in high places..

    My wife drives a Buick,is a Democrate,will not drive a motorcycle
    herself, and is a Presbytarian...
I Drive a Ford, am a Republican,it almost kills me not to ride my
    motorcycles, and am Baptist...
But we BOTH support the right of Bill Walker to say what he wants to.
I dont use the kill file (even after reading how to do it I am not sure I
could) I enjoy reading his post. I dont agree with everything he says by any
means. But I dont resort to name calling if I dont like what he says.I dont
get pissed if he takes a stab (and there has been many and will be many more I
am sure) at my political affiliation. I get pissed when someone comes on here
and wants to censor what is said by ANYONE.
If you dont like what is being said why not debate it as I have seen quite a
few times here latley. The one thing we all have in common is our love of the
motorcycles and we all want to be able to ride as we choose and what we
    choose.
