Cleaning visor?

Just bought a Shoei XR1000 and when I peeled off the protective film on the
visor it has left a zigzag pattern which I assume is some kind of adhesive
from the film. Any ideas what to clean it off with? I've tried optical
lens cleaner with no success. I'm reluctant to try anything more aggressive
like white spirit or meths for far of damaging the hard coating.

The layer is very thin, almost imperceptible to the finger, but it
    interferes with the vision.

    Thanks.

  5. Agree but detractors say it has salt in it which can scratch coatings
but it don't stop me using it for both cleaning and anti fog and my
visor is still not as scratched as my bins which only get herred on and
a thin coat of behind the ear grease for anti fog.

Cane's the poof for this sort of advice. You'll just have to wait for him
    to, err, come.

I've always used either Mr Sheen or plain water for the front without
problems, and Bob Heath spray for the anti-fog. As the reason I got the
Shoei was for the Pinlock, I'm hoping I won't need it.

It looks lke it is worse than I first thought. I've used Fairy Liquid,
meths and white spirit, and nothing is shifting it. When I look at it
closer, I think it might be that the hard coating has come away in patches.
It's got that zigzag pattern, exactly the same as when you peel an old
sticker off something and it breaks up. Bugger.

  10. Fabulous, provided you fit it tight and right. Not as good as the full
double glazing that the spik used to sell but better than fairy.

  11. Small strip of paper masking tape, tap the adhesive residue with the sticky
side, it should lift off onto the tape.

    Try, not in any order...
    - Angle grinder
    - Shit in the carbs
    - countersteer
    - synthetic oil
    - battery acid

Or, take it back to the dealer as he's sold you such old stock that (parts
of) the hard coating has come away with the protective film and he should
give you a new visor replacement.

The helmet *should* have a date on it somewhere, though don't be fooled by
    the "standard date".

    I'd take it back.

Don't know about anyone else but I always use Rainex on the outside of
the Visor it really helps when raining. I ignore the "do not use on
    plastic" advice on the bottle.

Coconut to that man. It's last year's graphics and I assume that it's at
least a year old. (I was aware of that when I bought it.) I've already
    contacted him about it.

    Cheers.

You are not wrong. The Pinlock itself works a treat, keeping me mist-
free for the whole of my commute in cold rain, with the visor tight
down all the way, even at traffic lights. That's a first.

A bloody good thing too, as the bits of the visor that weren't under
the Pinlock were misted to opaque within 100m of setting off. It's a
bit like peering through a letterbox. Plus the XR1000 is so much
quieter than the Caberg that I am hearing all sorts of new noises from
    the bike.

Yup, Pinlocks rock a big one.
