    Hi

The bike is Suzuki GSX750FY (2000 model). The katana in the US I believe.

After recently changing my chain and sprockets I now have a clicking noise
from the clutch. It comes from the bottom end under the engine cover. Whilst
I had the cover off to change the chain I gave the cover a really good
cleaning. I put it in a parts washer at work, which removed all the grime
and grease which collects under there.
On reassembly the clutch clicks when I start to pull it in. It does not seem
to affect the operation of the clutch. When it has clicked once it seems not
to click as much till it has stood a while.
    Anyone had anything like this?

I think your bike has a cable operated clutch, correct?

When you degreased the engine cover, you removed all the grease in the
clutch actuator mechanism. This needs to be well lubricated. Be very
careful if you take it apart as the little tiny ball bearings in the
ball screw mechanism of the actuator are extremely easy to lose.

That sounds very reasonable. I wondered if i had damaged the clutch drive
    thingy in the cover.
    Time for a grease.

    Many thanks
