Well today i went over to wagga to get a new front tyre.

Rode 100k's to narrandera, i thought nar, odos only 140k's since i last
filled up ill make the 100k's to Wagga with the fuel no worries i get 250
before reserve most of the time..

Well about 30k's down the road the reserve comes on, no problems, theirs
about 4 servo's in the one horse town..

First servo. big signs no fuel. right, thats ok, still got a little left on
    the reserve..

20k's down the road, the electronic fuel gauge tells me theirs nothing left
in the tank. thats ok, cant be longer to the next servo.

another 20 down the road now 180k;s, 20ks since the bikes tells me no fuel,
servo, out of order on all the pumps, ah sh&T.

Then road works, so i turned the engine off and waited, tempted to ask the
roadworks guys if they can spare a liter or two, knowing that they only use
    diesel I didn't bother..

Doing 60k's behind the fairing on the highway while trucks are overtaking
    you.

Then another servo, i pulled up into on a service road.. big sign, no fuel
sorry, yeah really sorry ive got a 10k hill to push the bike up soon.

Gunned it back onto the highway, up the hill, then turned the motor off and
rolled down the hill, motor on, and through a few roundabouts into the first
    service station.

I put in 15.45L of fuel into the 16l tank, and Im pretty sure it holds less
than 16l of fuel. When you shake the bike, you dont hear any sloshing at
    all. none what so ever..

Got the new tyre put on, over to a mall for lunch, go back to the
underground car park, put my sunnies on my rack bag, gloves on the seat, put
helmet on, put gloves on, then ride off, get out of the carpark gosh its
bright, were are my sunnies, I turn around, still sitting their
surprisingly, but on the edge of the rack bag just about to fall off.. I
reach around, until I felt pain in my arm, pushed the glass's off the bike
on the steep upramp, loose balance, bike is now on a really bad lean with
the leg in the wrong position, manage to pull it up with everything my leg
could do, then the bike starts to roll backwards, just missing the glass's,
all of this while people are beeping horns at me and a few just stairing.

Just had to ride 200k's home, luckily nobody knew who I was after that day.

but I never dropped the bike from the new tire and i never mentioned the
stupid people who cut me off.

I rolled into Ceduna with the motor off, ran out of fuel 200 metres before
the servo. OK, OK, I had a 10 litre can in the trailer, I'm not that stupid.

Bah, you had heaps left. I put 17.34 litres into the 18 litre tank on
the fart yesterday, the fuel gauge was still showing one
bar...sometimes... Only got 344kms out of that too :)

  5. The Shell servo at Berowra once charged me for putting 17.83L into my
16L tank. I not only happily rode into the servo, but by my reckoning
still had 2 or 3 litres left...

I don't but fuel there anymore.

big (all 3 times I've run it dry it took 16.3L to fill it)

No, that's how Optimax works. You get more Optimax per litre
    of Optimax.

GB, also, if you change your carby jets and *then* start using
Optimax, then your gear ratios will change more than they
otherwise would have done if you stuck with regular fuel
    after the jet change.

I walked out the door the other day running late on the way to work.
Remembering that the bike was running rather low on fuel when I got in
the night before, I switched it over to reserve. I usually get around
100 km on reserve, so I figured I had plenty of fuel to get to work (the
back way) and fill up on the way home.

1/2 way to work the bike ran dry. And I wasn't happy.

Then I remembered that the last thing I did the previous night was to
switch the petrol tap over to reserve ....

  8. A few years back, I had been out at Baskerville raceway with a mate (a
certain well-known Hobart VFR750 rider). He hadn't ridden my Blackbird
before so on the way back to South Arm we swapped bikes. Half way home
the VFR ran out of fuel so I switched to reserve. We stopped at the
RSL at South Arm but of course silly me forgot to mention that the
    bike had gone to reserve.

Poor Steve ran out of fuel just before the Tasman Bridge on the way to
    work the next day.

    Oops

Haha! And if you rang up to complain they probably wouldn't get Weights and
Measures out there to fix it....they'd tell you that your bike was parked at
such an angle to be able to sqeeze in that 3L!

    PRICKS!

Well, that would be Coles Express anyway. Shell would say it's not their
    problem.

    PRICKS!

Is all this ranting based on a real life experience, or are you just having a
swipe at Shell in much the same way that everyone likes to have a swing at
your employer? At this point I should mention that I ordered a replacement
clutch switch for my bike from PS a few weeks ago and was told they'd ring me
when it arrived. I went down to their Ringwood store and picked it up after
what I considered to be a reasonable amount of time. I wasn't surprised they
    hadn't called.
