Anyone else ride today? I saw one other bike on the road. Between
the cold and the wind I can't say it was real pleasant out. ;-)

Still better than being trapped indoor.

Almost makes you wish you took a little extra time at the Gerbings
Heated gear booth while at the show yesterday. LOL I bet they sold
    some stuff today.

It wasn't that bad....I didn't like the wind more than anything. I
wore a pair of thermals, jeans, and a t-shirt. Of course, my jacket
with the liner in it, and my lined gloves. I was just fine.....
burning up when I stopped inside someplace, though.

Yeah, the bike was definitely cold starting today. I will probably
put my tender on it tomorrow. Since I rode it a little bit, that
    probably helped.

Did you put a fan on you and pretend like you were riding while making
    noises?

I rode just a bit.. Made a flying trip to Sulphur Springs and back home..
Layered clothes made the trip bearable . I did get rained on a time or two..
And.. I made it home before the hard stuff hit .. LOL.. I call it careful
planning..You guys are way too tough..

I was wondering if you were still out there. Hadn't seen much from
you in the last few days. Probably nice to have some heated gear,
but I don't. I would have had to layer some more on if it had been
much colder. I'm good for short rides down to the low 40's like that.
Start getting to low 30's and it's a bit rough for me. ;-)

I am not into the "heated gear" all that much.. When it gets that cold, I
park this puppy.. LOL.. The wind bothered me more than anything.. But.. I
stopped often and took my time.. Turned into a pretty nice run, about 200
miles maybe a little more.. Those leathers sure felt good and my layers
didn't make it difficult at all.. Needless to say, none of the clothes came
off unless I was inside.. Glad you enjoyed the Bike Show.. Catch you on the
    highway, my friend..

That's getting pretty damned cold to be riding. I get concerned with
layering too much because it starts to restrict your movements and
    reactions.

Only part on my that got cold while I was at was under my chin. My
neck was warm from the fleecy-neck-warp thingie on my jacket. And my
helmet has a built-in wind deflector....but that ONE little spot got
    some of the air.

I am sure it's all subjective on ones personal temperature tolerance, but
I'm beginning to think that I might not have to get any heated gear at all.
Leathers, layers, and thick underwear seems to do the trick for me so far.
I'll cage it when there's ice on the road.

Considered electric wear? I wouldn't use latex gloves simply because
your hands will sweat inside of them. You need something to remove
moisture away from your body in those situations.

The silk liners are supposed to work pretty good, though.

That has been my own philosophy for a long time.. LOL.. Don't seem to notice
all that freezing stuff when I'm in the cab of my pickup...

Damn bubba.. when it is that freakin' cold, it's best to just hole up and
wait it out.. Been there, done that and paid all the dues for it.. LOL.. I
may get caught on the highway in some bad stuff, but damned if I'll run out
when all those freeze warnings are goin' on... (unless I have a nice little
two up to keep me warm, when we hole up)

I think you and I pretty much see eye-to-eye when it comes to riding.
I'm a relatively "fair weather" rider, though I can get through some
bad weather when I just have to.

However, you got me beat with the garbage bags, vaseline, duck-tape,
    hershey's chocolate and feathers, etc.
