  8. Downloaded it for mother tonight.

What's the current weapon of choice for putting DivX AVI's straight onto
DVD, that will be playable on her DVD player - (XP) ?

avi2dvd, part of the dvd2svcd program...

Speaking of which, anyone know of something similar for the Mac? If
not, I'll have to splash 60 quid for Toast 9.

Surely the ever powerful Mac (that which trashes PCs at *everything*)
would have this functionality striaght out-of-the-box with one big
button in the middle that just did everything for you? Including
loading the DVD into the drive. And writing the label. With the
next update that removes the button because it just *knows* when
you want to make a DVD.

Actually, it does. But iDVD is a bit pants in that it insists on you
creating a menu and I don't want one.

It's solution to not creating a menu is to hide it at the end of the
disc, so the disc auto-starts playing but when it ends you see the
    menu.

On an oddly parallel track, I dropped it down from Rapidshare last
night, courtesy of Another Place. If anybody wants the urls (and has
a RS account) I'll provide them.

Come to that, I'll burn the avi to a DVD if anybody wants that.

Certes. Mail me your address and I'll sort that immediately.

(It appears to be a decent copy, recorded from SkyHD)
