As I'm fairly new to road riding, just wanting to know what the differences
are between fifferent coloured lenses for visors / goggles ?

    Eg. Yellow, iradium etc..

  2. Iridium and black tint ones are for sunny days, clear for night, I've never
seen a yellow visor but it would be for low light where you want more contrast,
    judging by my shooting glasses.

Those yellow 'high definition' visors were the latest and greatest for
about 5 minutes back in the early 90s. Can't remember the last time I
    saw one.

Hmmm. I tried some yellow glasses for night driving back in the
seventies. Not any better to see with, but removed a lot of the glare
from oncoming headlights. I then used them for indoor and overcast
pistol shooting. They were very good for that. In the eighties I had a
yellow lens for my Oakley Factory Pilots. I used those in winter
riding my treadley to work as I was going both ways in the dark. Do
not attempt to use in bright sunshine.

  5. Don't use iradium. It'll give you cancer - or cure you of it.

I'll second the don't use yellow in bright sunlight bit! Clear at night
and mirror polaroids plus an iridium visor work well for me out here. Best
dusk /low light glasses I ever had were a (brand forgotten) polarised with
a slightly pinkish amber tint. Used them for about 2 years on a pushie in
the UK in the early 70s and then lost them out here. I've never found
anything else that's as good for clearer vision in failing light while
preserving colour and definition. Rodenstocks come close....

Maybe you should have tried rose coloured glasses to make your bike look
    better than it is
