It's like the French Connection FCUK thing. Think "feck".

At the risk of killing it stone dead...

FCUK (French Connection UK) rather famously play on their company's name
    being an anagram of "****".

Irish people tend to say "feck", not "****". Hence: FCEK. See?

See, now I read that as 'fe-sit', given that the C would be soft due to
    the subsequent I.
At a guess, there's something called FCUK... so the one above is a change
on the theme to be "Feck". That well known Irish form of exasperation.

    Stands for "File System ChecK"
Unix/linux command which has been adopted as an alternative to ****.

Do you need a degree in computer science to know that or did you just
    read my earlier post?

....which I understand was arrived at when the Hong Kong office (FCHK)
faxed the London office (FCUK) and some bright spark realised there was
    a branding opportunity being missed.

The two, of course, aren't mutually exclusive. But you must be
reassured to know that someone with a BSc in Computer Science has
verified the accuracy of your comment.

You do realise usenet isn't an instant medium don't you?
Or is that knowledge only held by computer science graduates too?

    Indeed, pathetic isn't he.
I would prefer it if he was the target of derision rather than me though.
Not as if I've even said anything that anyone's found objectionable.

He certainly appears universally to be an object of derision. It's
just that most of his posts reveal why far more effectively than
anything we might say, so mostly people don't bother to target him.
