Hopefully you're also taking advantage of the difference between the
24ppm you can claim and the 40ppm the government allow against your tax
code for running your own car?

If not, then perhaps you should be...

I'd love to see this computation done with petrol prices one yeafr from
now. Then a CG125 may suddenly look sexy (MSOHP).

And although there are also lame gazoline guzzlers, I suspect the more
petrol-hungry bikes are also those that cost most on spare parts and
    maintenance...

My TDM is at 56 MPG (imperial)for a commute trip made mostly of
motorways (sometimes jammed). My singles were closer to 65, but motorway
kills them (but they are better in downtown traffic).

Jeeze. I've been posting that here for years. That's been worth around
a grand a year to me when it comes to my tax return.

The on-board computer in my car regularly tells me I'm getting better
    mpg than Ford's official figures.

For a seven mile commute you should be on a pushbike, not a motorbike.

Indeedy! Though an accountant I used in Belfast had never heard of it and
took some convincing. When he called the IR to confirm they also denied it!

My Guzzi has managed 60mpg at normal speeds. After the recent rebuild I
get 40+mpg at B road banzai speeds (it used to do 30mpg).

I can think of some reasons:

the slope on the Tay bridge going home bored me silly

I hated arriving at work all sweaty and I sweat standing still in the
    lab

Not a natural cycler and someone stole it.... so I got motorbike

Hmm. Mine used to do 55mpg but since the rebuild it only just makes
    50. I suspect that I haven't got the TPS set quite right: it feels
like there's a slight lack of engine braking too.
