Hmm, I saw an Alfa GT 1.9 Tdi coupe today.
I have to admit I considered it as potentially suitable.

    For a second or two

My ex-wife walked into the plasteres arms, and the bricklayers arms, and
the brewers arms. Note the lack of capitals in that sentence.

    JTD, you mean.
They're very suitable, actually - they're in demand, meaning they have
good residual values and hence aren't stupidly expensive to lease. The
engine has also been proven to be strong and reliable - so much so that
GM buy them in for their cars.

    I'd have one. Obviously.

My first company car was a Ford Fiesta 1.4S. D124RBM where are you now.

It fucking smelt rank when it went back. My lad (now 190 was a baby,
and dropped a full beaker of milk in the back of it. I really cba to
    clean it up.

It was fucking neg in the extreme, and was commented upon by it's next
    user.

Bad form and all that, but seeing as my lad is 190, it makes me 440

It did look rather nice actually, but then I'd also consider a Hyundai
Coupe, which prolly makes me even slightly more unhinged than you.

Not really - they're a great looking car - it's just a shame about the
    recycled chocolate box interior.

I work for a Europe-spanning consultancy firm where we always work on
    client site.

We manage to get places without having company cars or always using
    our own.

Hmm. I have a new Fiesta. I can get 2 mountain bikes and a weeks
worth of camping gear in the back.

Ok, it's a got a 2 litre engine so it still shifts when loads, but all
    the same...

And how much can you get in without folding the seats?

I prefer to be choosy about what I am persuading people to buy whilst
retaining a modicum of integrity and self respect. It is possible to
    do both you know.

    ginge coughed up:
This was back in the good old days, when if you did 18K plus miles you
only paid a third of the tax, which was based on engine size (upto
1400cc, then 1400cc to 1800cc iirc, then fucknose, anything above
    1800cc was serious executive territory)

    Ahh, jumpers for goalposts etc.

Fair enough, the seats have to go down. But it doesn't alter the fact
that a small car can be equally practical.
