Hi all i just got my new bolwell vs125, looking around for comprehensive
    insurance.

back in 2004 i got a conviction for being in a fight in a pub, it seems to
have hindered my lifestyle in lots of ways.

im looking for comprehensive insurance to suit me as most of the insurers
say they will not insure a person with criminal convictions in the last 5
    years

    any help?

    Try http://www.insuremyride.com.au

I think they only care about driving offences, but you'd have to ask
    them.

Like ZB said, how can a bar fight affect your driving record? Which is
    all that should matter.

    I'd ask them again...

I know as far as the RACV (if in Victoria,. NRMA use the same underwriter in
NSW so I assume they'd use the same risk questions) is concerned the
relevant question is "In the last 5 years have any owners/drivers had any
criminal convictions related to fraud, theft or burglary, arson, criminal or
    wilful damage?"

If your conviction doesn't relate to any of those then you should be fine.

    Cheers,
    Dale.

Just write "Owner has been convicted of assault" on a sign and hang it on
    it.
That and, hmmm, the fact that it's a Bolwell 125 should prevent it getting
stolen and nothing else is likely to ever cost you much.
