    Yup, it is 'orrible.
    If cheap is significant, and, borrowing someone else's money makes it
    likely, have a look at the Hyusung 650, either faired or unfaired.
    (Making it non-LAMS is pretty easy, then it goes nicely.)

  2. I could get the tank fixed or stuff around trying to find a replacement but
    a bike is my daily transport and I want to get back on asap. I spent $2000
    on it in 04 - you couldn't see where the money went - didn't look or go any
    better and the brakes squeaked (and still do).
    I already have the wiring diagram - made multiple photocopies and traced
    each function with hilighter - but I'm still in the dark.
    My money management plan ensures that there is never cash available to fix
    any single thing but I can always manage to pay off a loan.

    and would make it easy to sell the lams version in nsw later on

    the SV in reality is in the same market at the er6 gsr6 etc they are both
    low stressed units

    the FZ6 is a R6 engined machine detuned

    prob be most happy with the Z750 imho

    personally i would be looking at insurance on all of them as this is also a
    deciding
    factor on running costs

    there is a lot more to a bike than just the cc badge on the side

    Oh, okay, sorry, I thought you'd only just bought this one. No, wait,
    that's Tim isn't it? Don't mind me. It is an 80G/S though isn't it?
    Do the parking lamp / instrument lights behave the same way? Is there
    volts at the grey wire / terminal 58 in the fusebox?

    The trick to fix the brakes on these is to really use them occasionally (to
    the point of lock-up) takes the shine off the pads and the squeak is gone.

    Dunno about that. The frame is more likely to be same as the Z1000. Its
    weight advantage comes from the lighter, skinnier forks, the simple
    extruded swingarm and the Y-spoke wheels borrowed from the ZX10
    It's comfortably the best-selling model in its market segment. What more
    could Kawasaki have reasonably have hoped for?

    No argument on anything else, though. The Z750's motor and suspension
    show up the cast alloy beam frame it gives away to everything else in
    its class for the gimmick that it is... hard to see anyone in the market
    for a middleweight naked going past it.

    It's definitely not available this year, according to the lineup on the
    Kwaka US website. You can get the Z1000 and the Z750S. No Z750.

    Makes sense. Americans aren't too keen on mid-spec bikes, to the point
    that manufacturers just plain don't bother releasing a lot of their
    offerings in the sector there. Suzuki fluked it with the SV650 due to
    its eligibility for that middleweight twin racing class Americans get
    into, but that's about it...
    Mhm, I dunno. Nudiebike first, followed a year later by the versh with
    the half-fairing and the big grabrails... for a manufacturer with
    Kawasaki's irritating we-have-all-the-time-in-the-world strategy, it
    would fit the profile...

    when I looked into the z750 just under two years ago, the 750 and 1000
    are the same except:

    the 750 is a sleeved down engine.
    all the trick/good bits including but not necessarily limited to brakes,
    adjustable suspension, wheels etc were taking off the 750 and cheaper
    stuff was used instead to get the price down.
    also the 750 wasn't available in the same colours, especially black at
    that time.

    I found the engine to have a horrible vibration that just got worse the
    quicker you went. On paper the z750 was everything I needed, but the
    riding experience just didn't do it for me.

    There is an Italian 4 cylinder 750 that whips the z750 into last week
    but the comparison is a bit unfair as it costs about twice as much.
