really? And how does someone navigate this site if Javascript is
disabled, or unavailable (say a screen-reader)?

Yup, WCAG2 doesn't forbid Javascript now.

And, I dunno if Cab has done something since our comments, but I just
turned off JavaScript in Firefox and the menus worked quite happily.

I think the intention is that modern screen-readers should be capable
    of executing Javascript.

As WUN said, I think a section that's all about the area and all the
great things to see and do is very important. And all those extra words
about the area will help with Google searches, too.

    - You have to go to a button named after languages to see a popup menu
in which you eventually find out what you can see in the site. Fail.
    Put direct links.

    - Add strength to page texts with a couple of pictures.

    - The "special discount for cheeky Dagos attending EOFS" page is
    missing.

I wasn't actually spamming the group. I wanted the opinion of SWK about
how the website was set up. I didn't mean it to come across how you saw
    it.

At the time you'd posted this, I'd not updated the site. There is a
javascript on the site, which I assume does the stuff for the buttons.
In any case, there's a new layout now. As most people suggested, the
drop down menus are gone. In place, on the landing page, there's text
telling the user to choose a language. Once chosen, they're taken to
the respective pages where the menu buttons are in a line, at the top.

I've corrected most errors, as suggested by bods on here and there are
a couple of odds 'n sods I need to sort out, such as proofreading the
French (and probably the English) text again, in-line pictures, etc.

I think it's a case of all the good names are gone. To be fair though,
the fact the BRC has a website is a very good step (I'd be surprised if
a lot of the other Gites in the area have websites). It's also very
easy to get the site visible in google nowadays.

    I wasn't having a go at you, m'dear.

I wish you and yours every success with your venture.

Cab's post simply assumed the principal lead in a straw/camel/back
