  1. A litre of Kanterbrau Gold, two thirds of a bottle of Aussie Shiraz, and
a nice cold supper of quiche, rollmops, spicy pickled onions, salad,
    cheese and sliced sausage.

The blankets are going to lift tonight. Santa is in for a shock.

No special food - just a huge pot of beef casserole tonight. With some
    home made mince pies.

Just finished the bottle of Bolly we opened after dinner, I'm moving
onto the Rebellion Brewery 'Mince Spy' next.

You don't sound as nice as the burd from Radio 4 who reads things out
    on Scott Mill's radio show.

Trim the tash and beard, it's causing a rustle as you hit the high
notes. And don't emphasis "gusting" too much, it sounds ever so
    slightly disturbing.

    Too much effort, sorry.

    Heh heh.

Traditional Chinese meal in the Edinburgh Rendezvous every Christmas
eve. Happens to be the youngest offsprings birthday and staying in is
    not an option.

Their crispy aromatic duck is just the ticket to get me in the Christmas
spirit. Also helps that they have a Rioja which I find particularly
nice. Always finish with a coffee and a Grand Marnier, warm fuzzy
feeling all over. Pretty sure the Grand Marnier is a very generous one ;-)

Pickled Herring. I saw them in Tesco this week but it's better to make
    your own.

I thought it was one of those feather duster jobbies the Romans used in the
vomitorium to make themselves throw up.
....and I see I was essentially correct in my assumption.

The psycho ex used to go mad for them.

Actually, better not mention her at all in case she goes postal at Nigel
    again.
